Sometimes, you just learn to shake your head, and accept the happenings in Nepal as nothing short of surreal. The picture below is for your amusement and information only. Actually, the owners of Tantra are two very hardworking guys in their 20s, who are trying to drum up some business in these very, very difficult times. Can't blame them, really. Restaurant and bars have especially been hit with falling revenues since Prachanda's announcement. Then again, today's newspapers carried ads announcing the opening of a new nightclub (with lighting done by designers from London!) at Yak'n'Yeti Hotel, starting this Saturday. Some Indian Channel TV dancer is performing . . . As someone memorably said, the distance between the First World Nepal and the Third World Nepal is greater than that between the planets -- Mars and Venus. Then again, hey, what is life in Nepal, if it doesn't come wrapped up in contradictions and contrasts? oohi ashu ktm, nepal
