I was wondering if there would be any Dashain Party in Chicagoland this year? Nepali new Year 2060 was a blast! Chicago guys did the marvelous job in organizing that party unparallaled to any nepali parties I have attended in USA. ANMA was okay,but Denver convention was a total failure compared to the fun chicago party had been had it been a three day gathering.
The cultural programme was way much better than the Nepali artists' programme during the summer.
I still hope there will be a party in chicago this dashain also and would love to listen to Dhiraj sing Narayan Gopal's songs and Bishal play the guitar. He is simply superb!...

How come Dhiraj's name is always mentioned in Chicago? Is he the most popular Nepali in Windy city? Or does he simply gifted with a great vocal talent? Or is he the man of every Nepali female's dream? I am just curious.

From what I hear, the lynchpin of Chicago Nepali Pariwar - Surendra Lawoti - has migrated to Boston Area. Lawoti was the one who made things happen. He was the driving force behind picnics, 1974 AD concert, Numafung movie show, New Year parties, etc. Now he is no longer there, so don't expect the same.

Arunima: Ofcourse there is a Dashain party in Chicago. It is Oct. 5 in the black building (if you are a chicagoan, you would know the building).

Yes, lawoti was an assets to the nepali community in chicago, a great guy, great soccer player (the captain of the chicago dhukurz, runner up in the 2003 ANMA cup). He is being missed by the CN pariwar.
I agree with Arunima -- Nepali new Year 2060 was a blast! Nothing of that proportion and grandure has ever been done in Chicago and I doubt it will ever be repeated. It was a team effort by a lot of people in Chicago with Prasoon, Rabin, Dhiraj, Birendra, Surendra and Surya in the lead. These guys volunteered a lot of time and effort to make the event a success. Needless to say, any event of any proportion organized by any of these guys has always been a success. I just hope they keep their heads high and not get disapponinted by critcs.

Johnny Boy, get your mind out of the gutter. Thats probably why you fall in the 'Loser' category in my book. Is the Dashain Party there in Chicago a good place to meet some of the boys that just came off the assembly line from the 'hunk factory?'
PS. last year ko New Year Pary ko Jasto thulo Hungama jastai, Kina dasain party ko Chaina yes pali??? Sounds like Chicago needs Lawoti, and the original organizers back again!

Whats all this cabbie nonsense? The party's open to everyone and its at 5415 N. Sheridan, aka (famously) the Black Building, this Sunday evening. Unlike last time, the food will be catered, but the booze will be free (included in admission).
And I hear the DJ's taking requests!

U should've been there. The food was great, the DJ was cool, and the girls were hot!
People were dancing like its 1999.
As for myself, my good friends Johnnie and Jack kept me company all night long. We had a lot to talk about, since we hadnt seen each other for like, weeks.

Ok... let me do some math here.... 6 bottles of beer, 4 glasses of wine and couple of whiskies plus that snack and incredibly delicious dinner..... just in $15.00. It looks like i owe them (organizers) some money. Let me know if you guys(Organizers) run into deficit i will chip in some.

everybody on that dance floor was a rock star for one nite. And if i were to pick one super-star from all the rock stars, it would undoubtedly be your neice. The moment she started to strut her stuff, all eyes were on her! People would scramble to make a circle around her, at which point, elated with all the attention, she would kick it up a notch, prompting wild cheering from her fans.
This pretty much sums up the nite. ;)
