Top ten reasons why Nepal is a poor country !!!

10. It is Prithvi Narayan Shah's fault. In the temple of Gorakhanath the old
man told him, "If you had eaten the curd, you would have conquered all the
territories you longed for, but as you threw it away, you will only be able
to conquer those land that you personally tread upon". Well, with the help
of a glass of WATER, Prithvi Narayan Shah should have eaten the curd that
the old man vomited. We could have had all of the land and the ocean too..

9. In the memory of late queen Tripura Sundari, Bhimsen Thapa built
Dharahara which was a bad omen for Nepal's prosperity. If he had
only built a sky scraper, things could have been different for Nepal
now.

Frank Senatra could have been singing 'Nepal Nepal', who knows !!

8. Jung Bhadhur Rana visited London in 1850. He should have stayed there,
got a job, applied visas for all his brothers so that they could all work
and send money home to support their large family. Instead, he returned home
to spend all our money.

7. Nepal discarded its isolationist policy and opened its doors to the world
in 1951 for the first time in 150 years, since then FREE TRADE has only
taken place between terrorists, drug smugglers, human traffickers,
Phensidol(cough syrup) junkies and fire cracker
fanatics.

6. The Kosi, Narayani, and Karnali rivers have considerable potential for
the development of hydroelectric power which can be the principal market for
the country's economy however, load shedding has prevented this from
happening.

5. Bribes are paid to bring down the corruption rate. Rates are in Dollars
!!

4. Foreign tourism can make our country rich. Too bad, most
tourists visiting Nepal are poor too.

3. We have relied too much on the generosity of rich countries. We never
listened when our Chinese friends said, "Give a man a fish,
and he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he'll eat forever."

However, Over the years we have learned to fish.... for foreign aid and we
are still waiting for a big catch.

2. Corruption is a disease that is infectious and often hereditary
in Nepal. It has affected many healthy men by making their stomach
swell up, thus making them lazy vuday men unable to work for their
country.

1. 'Brain Drain' has always been a problem of Nepal. Nepalese who
go abroad in search of knowledge never return home after they have
achieved their goals. For example, Nepali Keta Siddhartha Gautam
made it big as Lord Buddha outside but he never returned home. (typical)

Jah! Rasta mo-on.

nice observations man!

but let me ask you this.....would you eat the vomit of a jogi if he or she tells you that you could get all the bill gates's money.......you would consider that jogi to be asycho........and so did prithvi narayan shah.......personally i think he made a wise decision....but an unfruitful one as we say now.

when junga bahadur rana visited london......london was not like what it is now........i think kathmandu looked better than london because remember during the 1800's kathmandu's architectural heritage was much vast and varied than london's.......so he obviously chose the right place to stay and came back to kathmandu......also he was ruling nepal then....why would he be in london and live like a normal person.......he would rather come back to nepal and rule like a ruler........wouldn't you do the same if you had a choice??

brain drain.......i dont think that's what causes the intellectual nepalese to stay abroad......the main reason why they study and stay in foreign countries because of lack of opportunity in nepal..........i promise you my friend.......if there are proper chances and opportunity to do something in nepal...then all the educated nepalese will come back to nepal.......well......i dont know about others.......but i will.

these are the things that i could not agree with you.

the rest of the observations that you have made are quite correct.......and i partially agree with those.

Himalayan rasta
U cannot call Buddha a nepali. At the time of buddha Nepal did not even exist in its present geographical state. Kathmandu valley was The Nepal till the Malla's reign. So to call buddha a Neeeeepali keta is very ridiculous.
Of course, you can say that Buddha was born in Kapilvastu which at present lies inside the geographical boundary of Nepal.

Nepal is poor cauz all Nepalis are idiots, including myself. One day dhotis gonna overtake Nepal and poor us Nepalis are gonna work as servants & gurkhas in their homes. I say Jai Hind to that.

I completely agree with madmax. At this moment, I am waving an Indian flag singing Vande Mataram.

Its pretty strange how people can't distinguish between the frivolity and the gravity of the postings. The above posting by Himalayan_Rasta was probably from his one of the chain emails he received in his inbox. I read these REASONS while I was in highschool in Nepal and we laughed out loud in class. It was supposed to be a sheer satiric points.Hmm! suddenly everything changes.

Perhaps, people should at least give a hint somehow that it is not their originial musings when they post something like that.

Well, In anycase, I agree with the brain drain version ;), n most of the Nepalis are devout disciples of Lord Buddha :).
