Youth set on fire for making bluff calls Post Report BIRATNAGAR, Sept 25 - A youth from Biratnagar was burnt alive yesterday evening on charges of making bluff calls to someone elses wife. However, attempt to kill the youth by a group by burning him was foiled with rescue coming from the locals present at the site of the incident. Ojashbe Upadyaya, son of Ranjan Upadyaya, a resident of Biratnagar sub-metropolis-10, poured kerosene and sprayed gas all over Rojek Shrestha, who was accused of making frequent crank calls to Ojashbes spouse and teasing her. He was set ablaze at Devkota-chowk. Locals who witnessed the incident site put off the fire from Shresthas body and were successful in saving his life. Shrestha who sustained serious burns on one half of his body and face was rushed to the Koshi Zonal Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. According to the hospital, though the condition of Shresthas is serious, he is out of danger. According to the information furnished by Satish Shrestha a witness to the incident, three assailants came in a Maruti van, got out of it and sprayed kerosene and gas on the victims body, lighted him and fled. Locals around had closed down on the perpetuators, but were successful only in grabbing Upadyaya, one of the miscreants. The locals handed over Upadyaya to the police. Upadyaya has accused the victim Shrestha of having made frequent bluff calls to his wife at his phone No. 526363. However, refuting such allegation Shrestha said, that he has never made any phone-calls to Upadyayas wife, and it was either out of personal vengeance or malice that he was made the victim of Upadyayas wrath. It is learnt that the police have prepared a case of criminal charge against Upadyaya instead of an attempt to murder. The hospital has also verified, that the wounds on Shresthas body are from fire burns. It is learnt that Upadyaya is related to the Nepali Congresss president Girija Prasad Koirala. He is supposed to be the nephew of Koirala. The victims side has accused the police of not taking stern action against the assailant due pressure from Koiralas side.
