While Bhakta Raj Acharya , a respected singer, is slowly dying
with the unendurable pain of several disease, and fluttering in
his incapacity to speak out a distinct word, government didn't
dole out a single penny(correct me, if I am wrong) last year.

Mr Acharya's wife is still in contract in Radio Nepal. (She was
and for a long time, until I read about her last time).

And here: The government generously doled out charity to
smugglers, millionaires, leaders and their wives last year, a
total of which crossed 100 million rupees. That sum could be
used to upgrade RONAST, could be used to make road of 100 KM
(at the cost of 10 Lakh/KM which is medium cost between the
construction cost for road in Terai and Pahaad.)

Among the reciever, minister and corrupt politico Mohamad Alam,
former chief justice Biswo Nath Upadhyaya and UML MP Raghuji
Panta's wife. Alam got 15 Lakh, Upadhyaya got 4 lakh, and Mrs
Panta's wife got more than 1 Lakh. Isn't it a loot?

The amount of financial assistance granted by the government to individual persons during the first 10 months of this fiscal year has reached Rs. 100,073,876 according a statement issued by the Home Ministry.

The Ministry in the statement has named dozens of names ranging from former Chief Justice Biswonath Upadhaya to people who have been compensated or relief provided due to the attacks by Maoist rebels.

The amount ranges from few thousand rupees to as much half a million depending on the nature of the relief sought like relocation or even medical treatment or the individual seeking the fund.

Sanctioning of such amounts need the approval of the Cabinet and is released by the Finance Ministry.

Nepal Sadbhawana Party Chairman Gajendra Narayan Singh was stated to have taken the money a few times amounting to Rs. 230,000. Even the Finance Minister in March had taken 600 Sterling Pounds for treatment of his eyes in London, United Kingdom.

Former Assistance Minster Mohammed Aftab Alam has been given Rs. 1.5 million in August last year but no reason was stated for the amount given. Alam has remained a controversial figure and was once forced to resign for allegedly kidnapping and beating opposition supporter.
