Some guy wrote his view about Nepal. Never seen anything so negative written about Nepal by a foreigner.

It's a satire.
Bilbo Baggins Posted on 02-Oct-03 09:34 AM

Give a Ruski a computer and teach him some English and you get Gary Brecher ... Actually I am not sure if he is a Russian or not but, you get my point.

He is mad at something. My guess is he went to Nepal and he got screwed or may be he "didn't." That's the only reason why he is so antagonistic toward the whole country.

He misrepresents a lot of facts and the article is full of stereotypes. He uses "bad" languages throiughout his gibirish of a writing. I am almost sure that he is a graduate of the Neo-Nazi groups around the world.

But I have no gripes with him.

My "gripe" is with the Nepali leaders such as Girija, Babu Ram, K B Bhattarai, Prachanda, Gyanendra, Ganesh man (rest his soul), etc.... Nepal is becoming a laughing stock of the world and these dodo's of leaders aren't even done yet.

I remember the line from "The old man and the sea" ... man can be destroyed but not defeted ... the decency of Nepali leaders have been defeated and Nepal will be destroyed by these self fulfilling so callaed leaders sooner than we think!!

Our only way out is .... Pashupatinaath Hamro Desh Ko Rakshya Gara .... hamro Matribhumi Nepal lai bachauu... Yo desh drohi neta haru ko satyanaas hoas!!!

Bilbo Baggins Posted on 02-Oct-03 09:36 AM

It might be a satire but it is still done with bad taste!! And it leaves a bad taste in you mouth when you read it!!
mickthesick Posted on 02-Oct-03 09:36 AM

i don't care whether it's a satire or a real thing......but what i do care is that a f@cking russian third class news writer has no guts to write about the degrading and rusting communism in his own country and has set to write about the nature of communism and lives in nepal.

let me clear this........if that writer really wants to write something about the maoist communism (remember that almost all of this article focuses on the maoist insurgency in nepal).......then why doesn't he write about the dictator communist in Belarus??......i think he can get more first hand experience and information on dictatorship in Belarus since he is just a few miles from Belarus..........i think he did a worthless effort in writing something about nepal.

was he scolding the maoists because they follow mao's principles and not that of stalin's??.......i personally think this f@king russian is mad about that particular reason........he wants nepalese maoists would have rather follwed stalin's communism to that of mao......

after all another russian bitch added to my list....
SITARA Posted on 02-Oct-03 09:37 AM

"................That'll teach those hippie girls in high school to tell me I should lose some weight. I didn't mind it when the white-trash skanks called me Lardo - that trash doesn't know any better. But it got to me, I admit it, when the - whatever you'd call'em, grunge girls or neo-beatnik chicks or whatever - when they did it. I mean, their parents went to college and all, you sort of expected them to be a little better.

So I'm just kinda waiting here, for the day the Nepalese Maoists decide to go for the tourists, kidnap a bus of longhaired suburban girls looking for spiritual enlightenment. Talk about losing weight - yeah, they'll lose some weight in that fu*king cave. Did you see that [sic] letter from some girl named Avril who wanted me to read her peace poem and think about it? She's just the kind I'm talking about it. Anybody want to chip in on a one-way ticket to Nepal for Avril? It'll be real, real spiritual. ..." Gary Brecher

I read the article Saroj ji.
It reeks of malice at Nepal, at the world, people and .....everything in general. The above paragraph more or less reveals a frustrated puberty. Not much to be impressed by.

Bilbo Baggins Posted on 02-Oct-03 09:40 AM

Another plausible reason for his article:

When he was Nepal ... too much hiking ... not enough play!! Frustrated ... in all ways of life is what he is!!!
nepali_angel Posted on 02-Oct-03 10:12 AM

If you read some of his other columns, you're going to figure out that that's his writing style. One of the tools satirists use is derisory language in order to get their opinions out. It's a pretty educational piece, if you ask me, if you weed off his dirty talk and all. Since he's direct in his writing, we have NO reason to question what his motives are. It's just simple, really: it's to educate readers about Maoist uprising in Nepal. I have read another writing of his, where he calls Arabs towel-heads. He just doesn't believe in PC talk, that's all.
Not to mention that the site is pretty popular. Russia isn't a communist anymore, remember that.

Arnico Posted on 02-Oct-03 10:35 AM

Sounds to me like the writer is based in California, and not in Moscow...
nepali_angel Posted on 02-Oct-03 10:56 AM

Yeah, you are correct Arnico

"Data entry clerk and self-proclaimed "war nerd" Gary Brecher, from Fresno, Calif., writes the War Nerd column for Moscow's English-language alternative newspaper, The eXile (eXile.ru)."

hi guys!!!

all i can say is ... what a pathetic fatass narcissistic loser.

you know what?? we should take this article as a compliment... at last the reviews, the views... nepal is in the spotlight, for fat asses like gary breachers from wherever the hell they are to spend their time writing about us.
goddamn vodka drinking redneck *****f***ers

I dont know about you all, but I loved it. Its frigging Hilarious !!!

babaji Posted on 02-Oct-03 12:54 PM

Hey that's a pretty funny article.
I don't think this guy's been to Nepal, if he was, he would still be there smoking those free umm ganjaazzz.
But anyway the entire article is targeted towards the maoist and the present government. Most of us has the same feeling towards the so called 'Netas' and how they are running the country and the Mao upsurge.
disco Posted on 02-Oct-03 02:21 PM

I thought that was hilarious, I think this guy loves kathmandu as much as I do, hes just not too serious about himself as I am, if he hates anyone, I think its the Height Ashbury flower girls. If you read that tourists in Nepal article by Naresh Newaar last issue, I could not believe, one of them Hippy types saying, they dont see any problems is nepal, its all fine and dandy and they are going to treck away..... jeeeze!!
youre right Babaji, I dont think hes stepped into the ganja fields or he'd be writing about them instead.
oys_chill Posted on 02-Oct-03 02:50 PM

Yep, he has given a great satire it seems. His other articles were pretty funny too....haha..u gotta be a radical imposter to gain credibility it seems. His last part bout the white trash and Avril was simply awsome. Fun to read when u have "jhinga marne tyam" :)
eminem8 Posted on 02-Oct-03 03:44 PM

Offensive or not..............
you gotta admit..........the guy's got a point or two......
He has pretty 'accurately' described the royal massacre..........atleast, isnt that pretty much the explaination they gave us?
And that is a close enough picture of why the maoist problems arose and where it is headed.

Funny, very insightful, and almost brillient. He seems very perceptive. This is one of the best pieces I have ever seen about our bloody freaking situation.

Loved it!

Failedstate:

I immediately mailed it to several of my friends. I almost agree with you. Great piece!!!!
eNigma_too Posted on 02-Oct-03 09:44 PM

That was hilarious. The palace shootout certainly deserves such satirical dismentling. The Maoist, ironically, what else is it other then the way he put forward ?
FrankWhite Posted on 02-Oct-03 09:47 PM

As JK would say Stop hatin cause it was the best piece I ever read in Sajha. All u CK Lal wannabees should take a note from the writer and get some sense of humor cause the intro was very funny and the whole article was very witty.
U know one thing that bothers me that all u FOBs are the biggest critics of Nepal and everything that is wrong with Nepal. Please dont say anything if u are not willing to do anything about it. Also, all of u that want to have a full fledge war in Nepal, only if u are willing to take part in it shut the f_up. I think we got enough Neapli brothers killing each other. If Nepal was attacked by foreign country I would be there in a heartbeat but I am not willing to take part in the current civil war cause it is something I dont believe in. Sorry, I got little carried away but, Lastly, it sad that some kooire from Cali gives u more insight into the Nepali situation than all u preaching sajha regulars. Thats my word.
Peace,
FH aka Biggie

Its very funny actually .However when a writer mentions a work "Lardo " I am bit confused.dictionary.com failed to help me .May be Frank white can enlighten me.
Rusty Posted on 03-Oct-03 12:07 PM

This article is indeed cynic and full of infuriating humor. Hehe!! I really liked the way he described the royal massacre and instigation of Maoist insurgency; bratty prince wants to get married with local slut re... ehehe!!
