It was THE BLAST concert in MN. If you guys haven't got chance to catch the 1974 AD, do not miss the concert. I don't know how many places band will perform but I can tell you this, it was worth every penny. And crowd in MN was the great. |

hmmm...........1974 AD rocked MN. No doubt on that one. I have no regrets that i left behind the dashain party for the concert. It was worth each and every penny of my money. Also, the rappers...karma and his frens performed an outstanding number. What a way to open up the concert.!!! minesotans, why arent u posting! what's ur say on this one??? later, cotcandy. |

hmmm... too much hype about 1974. If you attened the concert, I would like to ask you: did they sing the same old songs from last year, or Did they have something new this year? Waiting for their concert in Boston:-) |

What was wrong with the old songs from last year? Well, I could not make it to the concert, but I say they are the best damned rock band ever to emerge from Nepal. However, their newer songs do not compare with the material included in their first (??) album that was never distributed commercially (I guess) I forgot the name of the album though, and it contained more english numbers than nepali numbers. speaking of Nepali performers, does anyone know a singer named Atimanu Pokharel. I hear he is somewhere in the US these days. When I was back home, I had a chance of listening to bluesy album and i was very impressed. |

Dautari, Personally, I don't like to go to see the live concert if the band or performers are playing the same music over and over again, and it might be true for others too.. For me, listening music is different from seeing the live concert. And yes, considering old is gold, I don't deny that their older songs are classic and best amongst any Nepali bands. |

Rusty, They did both new and old songs. There is no doubt their new materials are not quite up there as their old materials but maybe I just need time to digest them. Some quick observations on the show based on general opinion. UPs: 1. Really good live band. Talented, lots of energy and fun. 2. Easy-mannerisms and very good at interacting with the audience and get them involved. The audience was singing along with them in most of the songs. 3. Definitely one of the few Nepali bands that has created so much excitement among young music lovers. All the buzz and hype is definitely worth it....so far 4. Two words: Good music. Down: 1. Their flutist was MIA. Flute gives their music a very unique and a distinct Nepali sound. All in all, I had a great time. Being my first time watching them, I can't remember seeing another nepali musical show where I had so much fun. Overall, I will give them an A. So Rusty, don't miss out on their show. It will definitely be worth your while...and oh, don't forget your dancing shoes. It was very well-organized so kudos to everyone who invested their time and energy in making it happen. |

The Band played three new songs: 1)Cheethy (letter) 2)Guras phulayo 3)Pinjara ko suja The band also played a couple of Instrumentals like: 1)Pokhara funk 2)Crossings 3)Running on empty The guys from 1974 AD told me they are thinking of coming out with an instrumental CD. So that should be something to watchout for........ |

1974 AD must really exploit the talents of young guys like Sanjay Shrestha, who can work wonders with a variety of Nepali and western percussion instruments, and Manose Singh, who can bring Mona Lisa to life with his flute. Yes, with guys like Sanjay and Manose coupled with the experience-filled support from Nirakar, Bhanu, Phiroj, Adrian (another potential not fully exploited) and Manoj, their instrumental CD is surely going to be nothing less than a collector's item. |
