That's because whether we send emails to friends, or write memos for our boss using MS Word, or develop content for a Web site, or negotiate a deal with suppliers located in a different country, what we write and how well we write -- on paper and on the screen - are increasingly defining the extent of our personal and professional success. It's one thing to know JavaScript and HTML to land a computer-related job. But without an ability to write well -- using words in a simple, clear and persuasive manner -- the chances of one's taking a leadership role in today's Knowledge Revolution seem limited. Yet the very idea of writing well terrifies intelligent people, even though writing was what they presumably did for years in school.
