In yet another ineffable tragedy caused by the terrorists, 39
policemen, most of those poor, hapless and helpless, were killed
while in their duty to safeguard the democracy and the system
of nation.

[ How lucky we are! We read the news in our cozy room and in high
speed internet. We went outside pondering 'what the hell is
happening in our country'and ordered an orange juice in drive-
thru of a local fast food restaurant.]

It is also sad that most of us are yet to realize in which 'kiling
field'we are heading to. A few excerpts from my fellow Chitwane's
info is given here.

---------***********----------************-------------

A close relative of mine, a PhD student in Tokyo University, went
to survey a community forest project in Chainpur area. He himself
runs some projects there. Not long ago, he dreamt of riding Pajero
in the dusty roads of those hilly Chitwane ouskirts, now occupied
by fugitive Maoists ran away from Gorkha after army went there.

One day he saw a so called Jana Adaalat. In 2044 or something like
that, two guys (now one supporter of UML ,another supporter of NC)
bought a land from a local poor person. He recently petitioned in
the jana Adalat against that sale. The two guys were summoned to
that open Adalat. They presented evidences of their payment, their
Tamsuk etc, but as expected the jury found the two guys guilty.
My source who didn't wait long to see whole detail albeit saw two
very young women slapping at the cheek of those two sellers.

Reminds you "The killing field"?

My friend,in the next day, was in the meeting with local DFO, and
representatives of other project heads of sorrounding area. One
18 yrs old boy comes to the meeting and threatens all"We have got
report about your project. Make everything transparent, or we
will do jana-kaarbahi." We talk about normal rule here!

The other day, he meets with another boy of Maoists. He seemed
affable and tried to teach my friend about Prachanda Path. My
friend,obviously irritated, told the boy"look, thita. I don't need
to be lectured by you about Prachanda Path. And one more, I can't
go to field and plant paddy even if you rule here." The boy
grinned, and with little bit embarrassment replied," Kahaa sir. we
will give you a good job in our rule!" That is the courage. A
18 years old obviously uneducated boy is saying a project-chief,
and a Tokyo University PhD that he would give him a job.

Also, a report from west Chitwan said, people know who is in
committee of Maoists in every village. They collect tribune from
villagers. The Maoists are neither underground , nor secret. They
collect money openly.I asked who is collecting money in that
particular village? My source replied me "Baral sir."

------------------------------------------------

By refusing helicopter, by refusing power to question suspicious
activist, we are only encouraging terrorists to hang the bomb in
the hospitals and roads, and run parallel government.

Of course, for the right solution, Girija should leave the PM's
post.also, not for Sushil. We want change. So, Deuba is probably
better than others now. Then police and army should be given
more authority to question people they suspect. We should make
our human right watchdogs more active at the time, because
we can't afford to lose our democratic right while fighting
war against terrorists.

It is time we seriously consider Maoists as problem.

It is time we start to repose faith on our (police, army) men, and
avoid another descend to anarchy similar to the one brought by
cultural revolution freaks in China or Cambodia.
