This is a brief note to welcome visitors from New Hampshire to Sajha.com. Over the weekend, I was able to attend the Dashain Party held at Concord, New Hampshire, and enjoy the company of many people from the NH Community. Congratulations to all the performers and announcers and active members of the NNC (New Hampshire Nepali Community) for putting up a lot of effort to get this program in place. The food was especially good - some might have found it a little peero, but personally I really enjoyed it. Thanks to many of the friends and visitors of sajha who stopped by to say hello. I will be posting some pictures soon. Special thanks to Danggg, Rusty, and our very own Trikal for being an awesome host and friend. I am happy to inform you that NNC will also be linking to Sajha for their News and Events henceforth; Here'sa message from the Chairman of the NNC. |

Rasik Babu wrote in "New Dashin came at NH" thread Interestingly, ater 2 weeks of completion of Vijaya Dashami, the residents of New Hampshire observed the Dashain Party at Concord, New Hampshire. Some guests from Boston were also invited in the party. I have attended a couple of such Dashain parties and feel that the party this year has been the most disorganized and flop one. Out of about 150 participants, 50% were from Nashua and its nearby territories. The party was organized at concord which is 1 hour drive from Nashua. It was really painful for all of the Nashua residents to travel forth and back 1 hour each. Had it been organized at Manchester, it would be fair for all NH residents. The Dashain has been already past. By now, everybody was out from Dashain fever and festive mood. It was awkward to listen the songs stating 'Jamara Lagau' and all at that time. Nobody could feel it as a Dashain Party. It was like some other party. The hall was unable to accommodate the total participants. So, only the ladies and children got the priviledge to sit down. It was very conjusted throughout the program. The programs were unrefined, there was no schedule, full of boring lectures. The quality of the food did not match the money collected. The items were so hot that it was hard for the children and many others. The people could feel that there was no proper respect to the out-of-the state guests. That is why, they were seen outside the hall most of the time. The prize and certificate distribution was discriminating. Some selected artists got that, but without a basis. Even in the same program, some got and some not. Some sort of family and group influence could be clearly visible in this aspect. Some of the dances and some songs, however, were really good. The organizers deserve thanks for that. The program anchor was also good except when driving the children away from the stage. In spite of all these shortcomings, the effort of the program co-ordinator and organizors is appreciable. Only the homework was short. I am pointing out the shortcomings only for future improvements and compliance. If you are positive, pls take it positively as an unbiased feedback / criticism. I wish successforn the upcoming programs. Rasik Babu. I think Rasik Babu has valid points. That was a total mess. I hope next party will be better. |

San, Thanks a lot for lending a hand to New Hampshire Nepalese Community. My hats off for the New Hampshire Nepalese Community co-ordinators and organizors, who completed their volunteer duty successfully. However, as Umesh dai requested in his speech, I would also like to give a couple of feedbacks so that there will be certain improvements in the next coming get-together/events. Ghatak Gurung has very good observation and good scrutiny of shortcomings that probably mortified the party. I somehow evaluate the party in the same manner as Mr. Gurung did. So, instead of writing down the same points, I wanna quote some valid sentences that Mr. Gurung brought up in this forum. 1. The party could be organized in Manchester so that it would be equal distance for most of the NH residents. 2. "The programs were unrefined, there was no schedule, full of boring lectures. The quality of the food did not match the money collected. The items were so hot that it was hard for the children and many others." I agree with the first part. It was indeed full of futile speech. Nonetheless, I utterly disagree with what he said regarding the food. I thought the food was incredible, and for me and some of my friends, that was the only attraction of the party, despite the fact that goat meat was extremely HOT HOT....I almost got aflame. 3. "The prize and certificate distribution was discriminating. Some selected artists got that, but without a basis. Even in the same program, some got and some not. Some sort of family and group influence could be clearly visible in this aspect." I've never seen such a shameful episode in any of the parties that I attended previously. Well, rewards for childreen is considerable, but why should all those adult performers receive those awards/certificates? It was so rediculous and appaling.... Before conclusion, I want to indicate that NHNC does not have enough youngsters, who're enthusiastically involoved in any fiesta like this. Thanks to Vicky bhai who always participate in any cultural show as a musician/singer. For the cultural show like this, we need more young people who can play musical instruments.... Lastly, all these feedbacks and criticisms are not targeted to anyone in the comittee. I think Umesh dai and all other organizors did marvelous job, even if they're tied up with their own schedule. |

I hope the same comittee will remain for upcoming Nepalese events so that they will have chance to improve as people suggest. |
