I am sure someone will come with their own interpretation of "growth", "record", "statistics" and "percent" and undermine this great acheivment of hardworking Nepali farmers!

Record paddy production

Nepal will harvest a record 4.37 million tons of paddy this year-- a seven percent increase compared to last year.

"Our preliminary statistics clearly indicated towards a robust increment in paddy production this season," Shiva Sundar Shrestha, Director General of Department of Agriculture told Kathmandu Post.

"Even under the worst case, the production would be over five percent that of last year." Paddy production has jumped in all terai districts, except Sunsari, the newspaper said. nepalnews.com br Oct.21

Well well, if last year's production was the lowest in 30 years then the current increment isn't a big celebration.... Yes pali mausam ramro bhayera dhan dherai falyo ki sichhai ramro bhayera? If you see DrRam Saran Mahat's statistics in his criticism of Nepali elites, after spending billions of rupee in the last two year, irrigated area in Nepal increased by only 2500 ha which is not enough to attribute 7% increment in paddy production. The pieces of puzzles dont fit together....
