moaist have announced today that they will not attack infrastructure targets, retired security personnel, and security personel on leave. whats up with these guys?are they running out of steam? or has the so called urban warfare made them more alienated from the general public? the question is how long will they wait before they revert back to their old tactics again.

I think the maoists are trying to be different...but not sure for how long??? what do they really want? what did they want in the past, and what made them change their Strategy? What si the new strategy? Is it just stop attacing on infrastructure targets, retired security personnel, and security personel on leave.? Is there more to this? Do they have any hidden agenda behind this?

Maoist's this move looks to be a strategy to win sympathy of police and the army.

This is a turning point--either the Maoists are loosing the war, or too the surprise of many, they are winning it. This strategy was tested by Mao in China when he signed the United Front Agreement with the Nationalist Government to resist the Japanese invasion of China.

IF jyu, Burning the midnight oil in Beijing, are we? I am impressed. It must be really early morning in fog shrouded Beijing....all signs of a good student! You know why they promised not to destroy telecommunication towers? Because none are left standing! But seriously, on the issue of Maoist promising to behave better, I wouldn't put too much into it! They have publicly stated at least twice in the past that they would not destroy public infrastructure like telecommunications, airports and factories. Within weeks they start destroying them again. It is the same with civilians and unarmed individuals...on countless occasions they have said that they do not murder defenseless people. But then they start killing them all over again because it is much easier to kill a unarmed person than attacking a police garrision or army barrack. In my humble opinion, it is like a tiger saying that he won't attack the antelopes anymore. But let us leave the killing business to the revolutionaries...how fares the merry town of Sanlitun? Has the rising Beijig cold chased the baishalu kannyas indoors or do they still roam the broad boulevard to bewitch and snare the unsuspecting treaveller? Take care! SC

haha SC dai, "Burning the midnight oil in Beijing, are we? I am impressed. It must be really early morning in fog shrouded Beijing....all signs of a good student! " Good Studnet hoina, bad student ho. as they say in Chinese, Huai Dan! how fares the merry town of Sanlitun? Has the rising Beijig cold chased the baishalu kannyas indoors or do they still roam the broad boulevard to bewitch and snare the unsuspecting treaveller? Sanlintun is as lively as ever. As the temperature continues to fall down, there are more people in Sanlintun with drinks of their choice, and all those things that keeps you warm.

Maoists cannot be trusted. May be its a way to prepare for a new offensive. Government should not retreat unless they actually give up their arms. If Prachanda had ever thought of developing Nepal, he would not have carried such a mass destruction. I hope he is serious this time. jaya_nepal

Another Bull Shit from the Maoist. This is the second time they have said it. The second announcement was made almost three days ago but we haven't seen any decrease in violence. The govt shouldn't beleive them and kill them all. Hang Babu Ram, Prachanda and Mahara in KTm than will the hearts of all Nepali people who have suffered by the loss of loved ones or property come to rest. May the curse be upon the Maoists for the suffering they have brought to our country and its citizens. At this point I don't care how its done but wipe them out. They don't deserve to be citizens of such a beautiful country, I wouldn't even call them Nepalis.

Prachanda sure is knowledgeable about China's recent history. However, one thing to not forget here is that this Maoist insurgence is just out of control, even from the hand of its leaders. No matter how 'scientific' and organized they claim their operations to be, there is no doubt that not every branch reciprocate the orders equally. In a country like Nepal, where intelligence communication is poor, how can we expect their operations to be smooth anyway? With different groups evolving, like the Kirat front, Maoist leaders sure must be getting hard time collecting their groups together and communicating with them. Bottom line, no matter what resoultions these Maoist Leaders come up with, we cannot take it seriously as they aren't an 'organized' organization. In macroscopic level, their objective seems to be different and from what we read, the way they conduct their operations seem to be out of whack. This is definately a good thing for us, the weaker they are the better it is for Nepal. The puch line of the whole joke was how they claim to ask help from UN and our neighbors. Yeah right.
