DNA tests on 300 possible fathers of Badi children
Deoxyribo-Nucleic-Acid, or D.N.A. tests will be carried on around 300 people across the country and abroad on first phase to identify those who fathered the children of Badi community through illegitimate relations and prostitution, RSS said Wednesday.
"The testing is being carried out by the Social Awareness for Education (SAFE), an organisation working for the rights and well-being of the Badi community," the news report said.
The fathers of some children born out of the illegal relations in the Badi community have already been identified and some legal requirements are in the process, said Suk Lal Nepali, chairman of SAFE.
In the list of 300 persons prepared by SAFE, some are former members of the parliament representing various western districts of Nepal, the news report said.
SAFE has been carrying out this initiative to help Badi children acquire citizenship certificate, for which one needs father's name, the report said. nepalnews.com mr Oct 22
