We have seen TOO MUCH of 1974 AD and MAHA to last us a decade. Any other groups but these. How about local talents. Nepalis in the USA performing different Nepali cultural stuff. I'd prefer that and this was the whole purpose of setting up these organizations anyways! These professional types that come here to basically make money ... I don't know!! |

I would suggest that ANA invite Nepathya. They appeal to the young and the old. We can even have Khem Raj Gurung (wari jamuna pari jamuna) perform with Nepathya. I know at least 50 people that would attend the convention if Nepathya were to perform. Jhapali and his 50 friends |

Nepathya is the best fusion band Nepal has ever seen. Please give them an opportunity to perform in the US and see how they will rock your world. Perhaps Sukmit Gurung could open for them. |

Alright people, its time for Nepathya to give the US a visit. They are one of the best, if not the best nepali band. We have heard too much of 1974 A.D. They are too senti therfore u can't dance to their music. Most of Nepathya's songs are dance songs and they are classics. Growing up in America I've come to enjoy true nepali music and the fusion of loog geets and pop songs which Nepathya offers. I think there is a majority wanted Nepathya to perform in the 2004 Ana convention. It's gonna be crazy if they come! |

Nepathya...... Folk singer... No more 1974 AD (don't even mention for another 3 year) |

Sasuralima - Badri Pageni and Sindhu Malla Khaireni Ma Gate - Bhagwan Bhandari and Beema Kumari Dura Beema Kumari Dura has been around for quite a few years but the other three belong to new generation of folk singers. Sindhu Malla is not essentially a folk singer but she is a classical trained singer who also sings folk songs .. like Kunti Moktan. But still, if it is pure folk music .. I would go for Arun Upatyaka Sanskritik Samooha. Khem Raj Gurung is a one-hit wonder. I would not really want to hear him sing Wari Jamuna Pari Jamuna all over again .. he does not have any other good song. Wari Jamuna is a garra song and Arun Upatyaka's Ghitang Ghitang is a far better rendition of a garra song from the Arun Valley. |

Nepathya is more like a one man band ... Amrit Gurung is the man. However they can be a star attraction at ANA keeping in mind that their new album is due anytime soon. |

Dead Soul Dead Soul was formed in 1993 with its original line up of Hemant (Lead Guitar), Sambahang (Bass Guitar), Tham (Drums), Shyam (Rhythm Guitar) and Roshan (Vocals). With unforgetable gigs in the few following years, the band proved that they are one unavoidable Heavy Metal band in Nepal. Dead Souls major solo concerts has been Iron Maiden Spirits

Let's see here..... If you appreciate music, you CANNOT get sick of 1974's music..... True that you won't go to watch 'em live everyday but their music's got a class in it so can't get enough of it......However, for 2004, we definately don't want 1974 A.D......After reading everyone's opinion, I realize that it won't an easy job for ANA ppl' to come to their decision..... But for a concert, who else would be better than Nepal's Top Rock Band....ROBIN N' LOOZA.....they seriously kick some major ass.......I've used to go their gig every week in Bamboo club and they were simply AWESOME......I think it's high time to bring their talent abroad and ppl' here in US will DEFINATELY get something out of 'em.... NEPAL, MERO GULAF KO KADA......Rock on and Peace out !!! |

NepathyA should be the Selected One to perform for ANA '04 for once and for all. It's about time that Folk-Pop should be heard and recoginzed overseas and only NepathyA does it the best. I bet there will be more crowd in Phoenix if NepathyA are in US. Or, shall we do the poll. Bottomline is: NepathyA will rock.

well lets just say that we have had too much of 1974AD these past few years...time to call a different band... yeah nepathya would be a good choice to go with however, i really like to see ROBIN N LOOZA: and, MUKTI N REVIVAL perform....Dead Soul are awesome but their music is too heavy for any general nepali crowd that attend these concerts, not that i won't be there if they are called in (slim chance of that happening). Gaz bro i think u forgot to mention that Dead Soul performed Metallica Anthology too and that was one of the best concerts i've been to in Nepal. Hope to see one of these bands next year pizzah |

Well, well, the response here seems to be great,as expected. We already have some names rolling in here. Mostly Nepathya & then Robin N Looza. Here's my take on bringing either of these two. Nepathya is good but maybe way too mellow to server our purpose. A lot/most of their stuff seems to be folkish/pop which is absolutely great.. But not great enough to literally "Bring Down the HOuse". We will be having folk/adhunik/pop artists to sooth our ears and hearts and get us a little on our feet. So the BAND playing for the grand finale has got to have the "MOJO". Lets rock the audience folks. How about "loud and punchy" for a change(with a few mellow ones). I thought that's what our nep folks loved. For this I think "Robin n Looza" is the way to go. Maybe Mukti too , but their name doesn't seem to pop out as much. We can do a little poll on the Phx ANA'04 website and see. That should be up in the coming month. SHall post the URL on sajha. Alrighty folks , lets hear more. |

Totally agree with AX Nepathya, Om Bikram Bista and Sukmeet Gurung :-) These are few of the best nepali singers and band in Nepal. There is no one who doesn't know Sukmit Gurung and Om Bikram Bista. They have great music and will attract old + new generation. Sukmit Gurung was here few months ago but she did not have time to go around taking tours so many people did not get to see her at all. Nepathya are one of the best Nepali band. Great old classic fusion and songs are nice to dance........ Not to offend anyone but I don't even know who Robin N Looza, Dead Soul are, may be I have been in US for too long. Are they good ????? Well who ever comes, it'll be great.................... 1974 AD are great band but they were in US tour last year and they are back and some people are getting tired of them. NOT ME.................. 1974 AD SUCKS....We should get Hari Bhansa's gay ass out on stage and throw tomatoes at his cross-dressing queerass....This would bring great joy to the nepali community.....It would be very comedic as well as extremely entertaining to see this lump of turd get hit by tomatoes...oh yeah, to double the thrill we can bring his boyfriend Madan Krishna on stage and throw tomatoes at him too....Cant wait for ANA!!

So Talman, did you decide on Robin N Looza or can we still vote? I don't think Nepathya will be mellow. I have heard that the band members are a bunch of party animals. |

Oh Yeah, the POLL is still very much ON. Nothing is going to be finalized till a couple months down the line. And logistics/deall should work out with the bands/artists we're inviting. And so it is necessary for us to have more than ONE name. And about Nepathya, I was thinking their music is a bit mellow rather than they themselves.. But they certainly are very much in the reckoning. We should have more info up once the official website for ANA 04 is up. Should be pretty soon will let ya all know. |

My muscial prefernce is Hip Hop but I rather see NEPATHYA because of fusion btw pop and folk. To me, their shit is the da real Nepali music. I don't want no rock or Nepali hop bands cause they are second class. If want to hear real rock or hiphop I live in the best country to find that. Peace, FW |

So ppl here don't seem to be enthusiastic about bringing some pure folk music artistes. Interesting ... At least, for me, nothing is better than our own folk music. However, we have to go with the majority. |

Nepathya...??? They've travelled to some other Asian countries like Hong Kong. They were out of control and they had too many "DHAAK" once they were in Nepal. They're very close to me(I'm not trying to me a smartass) and I know how they will react once they perform in USA. Once back in Nepal, they will think they're the king. I don't mean to be too negative about them, but you'll not like them ( not in terms of music, but of their attitudes). I'd rather prefer Mukti and Revival. They do more ethinic music ( I mean ETHINIC...Newaris, folks and rock..., not only mellow folk tunes). How about Om Bikra Bista ? He's popular and have lots of nostalgic songs. He's also got some unreleased songs that can kick any band's (old or new) ass (my inside source....cause I know his nephew and I've listen to some of them). |
