It is very painful only to read the story of 4 NJ adopted kids who were abused and starved by their foster parents. Only God knows what they had been going through. Related story - http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2003-10-27-neighbors-starved-boys_x.htm We hear a lot of stories of foster parents accused of abusing adopted children physically, sexually, and in some cases killing them as well. Then we wonder why the hell they adopt children in the first place if they cannot handle? Are they just doing it for personal benefit? It is not fair to blame all good people, but it is tough when news like these surfaces on the ground. I had an opportunity to see a Bal Mandir district board of director last year in DC who was invited by an organization who adopted children from their school. He along with his 4-member team was supposed to go to Ohio to meet the Nepali children and their foster parents. Everybody was visiting his or her friends and relatives, and nobody made it to Ohio. They were not concerned about the kids at all and throughout their stay with me, all they were talking was who comes and goes next time. It was not his first such visit, and it seemed thats the culture in Bal-Mandir. Im not trying to be disrespectful to the person, but they need to understand that visiting team should do their job thoroughly because not every child is safe and secured in this dreamland. |

Mitraji, Well, I guess those kids never had their parents in Nepal. Those who work in Bal Mandir and only think of their individual welfare need to rethink about what they are doing. Those kids are not sold to the prospective foster parents, those foster parents are entrusted to take care of these little wonders, and Bal Mandir has moral responsibility to know how they are taken care of. |

Dear Mitra Ji, I am touched from your compassion, there are very few people who can think of others misery and problem. Very good heart, rare quality, keep it up. Dhananjaya |
