Hi guys,
It appears that many Nepalese in the US are applying for asylum in the recent months and years showing fear of prosecution by the government or retribution by the Maoistsn as causes for seeking refuge. What is the position of Sajhapuris on this? And what is the experience of those that have gone through this? Have you been successful? I am not interested in applying for one but here are a couple of people meeting with attorneys every other day to decide what to do and how best to improve their chances of getting it. I have not been able to give them any useful advice and would appreciate if the more expereinced or knowledgeable ones spared a moment or two to drop a few lines on this. It would also be nice to discuss the implications of this process for the Nepali diaspora and Nepali cultural identity as well.

Hi,
My curiosity was how do we approach this whole issue?

Lonely,
I do not mean to discourage you but I am gonna tell you an incident from few weeks ago. This guy came to US like five months ago and filed for assylum. They rejected his application during the interview. As a matter of fact you can always go to the court when your assylum is denied. So this guy went to the court and too bad he lost the case. He was then hand cuffed right from the court and taken to detention center. He is to be deported soon.
I mean go for it but just watch out!
