Reetu... Hi everyone, Substitution may be another possible way of resolving the language problem in Nepal. Every Nepalese citizen can not speak "Medium Language Nepali" (defined it in the constitution). People have their own "popular sovereignty" ( not exactly as in the US, but similar sentiment, it had been used at the time of abolition in the US). You can see the substitution for Nepali Language at college level. If you take an extra "English" course, you do not have to take any "Nepali Language" course. So, if it is possible in a college (Under TU), why don't we implement it in all the schools in Nepal? There might have several advantages and disadvantages of this substitution of language. In my opinion, basic disadvantage is that it dominates all the "Matri Bhasha Haroo" and advantage is that it helps to the most of students to compete for scholarship go to study in "Bidesh". It stimulates a fair competition among the students. No one deed to go to "English Medium School" spending huge amount of money. It ends the controversy of language superiority and inferiority among the Nepalese. Reetu...
