Nati Kaji passes away: from Kantipuronline
KATHMANDU, Nov 2 - Senior musician/ singer Nati Kaji Shrestha has passed away after a long illness. Nati Kaji died at 7 this morning at Medi-care hospital while undergoing treatment for the Parkinson disease. He was 78.
Nati Kaji was only recently taken to All India Institute for Medical Sciences.
He had contributed immensely to the development of Nepali music and was associated with Radio Nepal for most of his life where he retired from service as under secretary and a class "A " singer in 1989.
During his long and distinguished career, he is credited for the music composition for more than 1,000 music discs and was awarded several decorations including Gorkha Dakshin Bahu , indra Rajya Laxmi Pragya Puruskar and Tri-Shaktipatta.
Nati Kaji was married to Saraswati Shrestha and is survived by his wife and three daughters.
He has been cremated at the banks of Bagmati River at Aryaghat near Pashupati temple in the evening.
Earlier, Prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa paid floral tribute to late Natikaji at Royal Nepal Academy, where his body was kept to pay tribute the dead soul. "The Nepali music sector has incurred an irreparable loss due to the death of Natikaji," remarked Thapa.
