Banijya bank located at the heart of capital (Bishal bajar's banijya bank) is looted. Isn't there a police station next to the bank? Not good news--jan dhan ko surachhya chhaina nepal ma... The detail news as excerpted from kantipur online is as below:

Rs. 22 million looted in Kathmandu
KOL Report

KATHMANDU, Nov 3 - A group of unidentified men have robed a major branch of Rastriya Banijya Bank in Bishal Bazar in the centre of Kathmandu, looting as much as Rs. 22 million. The amount however, is much lesser than earlier reported. First reports had suggested that the robbers had made off with about Rs. 50 million. However, police and bank officials now say the group, contrary to earlier reports was unarmed, had entered the bank Sunday evening after overpowering the only guard on duty. It has also been revealed that there was cash worth Rs. 80 million and another Rs. 20 million worth of bullion at the time of the incident. Police say they believe the robbers had very good information about the bank and where the money was kept. Chief of the Valley Crimes Department, Superintend of Police Binod Singh said the men had broken eight locks to enter the main chamber where the money was stored and had taken money from the only safe which had Rs. 1000 notes. Other safes were untouched. Superintended of Police Deepak Ranjit of Hamuna Dhoka station further added that the police had acted as quickly as they had received information. He said the main cause of the incident was lapses of security by bank guards and officials. Ranjit said police had detained several people for questioning, including bank officials and guards. He said the robbers had also not taken away any weapons and hinted that the looting may have been with the help of inside person. He refused to elaborate further saying the investigations were still underway. But he added that he believed that the case might be solved soon. (rk)

nepalki chhori and nepali thito, read the interesting news about the bank robbery in today's kantupur. kasto natakiya dhanga le chori bhayeko chha nepali janata ko pasina... few interesting points:

1. the bank was looted in a marathon three-and-half-hours-loot between five to 8:30 yesterday evening.

2. the police were informed of the loot at 10:15 p.m.

3. Currency notes worth Rs. 4 million were found scattered inside the broken vault, apparently because the looters could not carry them, or they left in a hurry.

4. The looters broke the grill at the main entrance of the bank and six heavy locks that secured the bank vault.

5. Preliminary clues have led the police to the conclusion that people "very familiar" with the bank perpetrated the loot. Curiously, the looters broke precisely those chests of the banks vault that contained Rs. 1,000-denomination currency notes.

6. the SP said "Weve been interrogating suspects. Were sure to nab the culprits soon as the involvement of insiders is almost clear"

7. According to police sources, bank security staff Surya Nepal has alleged that about seven strangers arrived at five in the evening yesterday, took control of him and covered his head and eyes. "They werent armed," he said.

8. There are no signs of physical struggle between the security person and the looters.
9. Among the 11 security personnel of the banks branch, Nepal was the only one present in the bank premises when the looting occurred.

10. Sketchy reports from the police suggest that one of the bank security personnel, who arrived at the bank at around 10 at night, informed the police of the loot after discovering Nepal gagged and tied.

11. Police reached the bank minutes after receiving the information. The fact that the New Road Police Office lies inside the Bishal Bazaar premises gives the measure of the audacity of the looters.

ALL THAT HAPPENED DURING BUSY SHOPPING HOURS...

Usually robbery happens in minutes, not hours...and what took so long to inform police? The robbery happened amid of busy crowds. Why any of the shopper didn't inform police? Oh my God!

Something fishy in there...How are we to trust anyone ? All these happend during busy shopping hour, they went on with their work from 5 to 8:30 without the police even knowing about it..gimme a break !! What does those jerks think we are, stupido !! The only way to find out those responsible is to keep a strict surveillance on all the bank employees and their financial activities. I am dead sure they are involved..such is the greed and lust , not a trace of trust and honesty remains.
