Interesting view by the US Ambassador to Nepal iconing Nepal as magic. Who are magicians then? Probably mysteries may characterize well Nepal at the present moment. It is good that he also sees development of Nepal can be by its vast hydroelectric potential, using its water power to feed the energy to India. Yes, but not at the turtle pace of hydropower development. Eventually we need mega projects to quell all sorts of problems in the nation like political instablity, unemployment, poverty, etc. If America and India really wants Nepal's development will be realized. We need to negotiate with the magicians for a mutual intersts and benefits. Let's try to understand the geo-politics tied to hydropolitics.

Nepal still full of magic: US envoy

"For all its troubles, Nepal is still full of magic," published reports quoted United States Ambassador to Nepal Michael E. Malinowski, as saying in an interview with the Chicago Tribune Tuesday. The US envoy, also a Chicago native, said, "The people are extremely nice. You can make real friends. There's a wonderfully rich cultural and historical side," he said, though he added that personal logistics for a modern-day US diplomat can be something of strain. These days, the political side is depressing, he said. "It's still fun," he said, though his challenge in Nepal "is to get to the root causes of discontent at the village level." "Security is important. So are roads, schools and long-term economic development. That, he noted, might come from the development of Nepal's vast hydroelectric potential, using its water power to feed the energy to India," The Himalayan Times quoted Malinowski, as saying in the interview.
