I, no doubt, believe that this article would raise a lot of questions and evoke substantial animadversion, but I still would like to put forth some issues that have troubled me for a long time. We Nepalese, either have a very short memory or we are so good at times that we exculpate heinous of crimes.

Among many of the incidents, enter; the issue pertaining to Hrithik Roshan, a top notch Indian cine-star. Before the issue actually caught fire, I had enjoyed his interview in a Simi Garewal show. Few days later as I was passing by bhagawati bahal in Kathmandu, I saw few people burn his effigy. I had a feeling, that the wake of his wedding must have made the agonizing and heartbroken fans (especially females) to despise him. Later did I know that he supposedly denounced Nepal and Nepalese. I remember that I had tried as much as I can, to recollect what the star had narrated. Before anyone reached a conclusion, there were some deaths and the city of Kathmandu was subjected to curfew. Ironically, the fire was extinguished the next day and no one ever talked about it. The entire Nepalese people were wrong, Hrithik never made such statements. I still wonder why people of Nepal had to demonstrate to such an extent and hurt themselves even if he had done so. Life goes on.

The royal massacre too was forgotten within a year. People of Nepal, despite numerous witnesses confessing the demoniac act performed by the then crown prince, disbelieved the entire incident and made stories of their own. As expected, the issue was forgotten and people eventually cried out loud the king is dead: long live the king. Life still goes on.

There are other many issues, the multiparty revolution which exiled the panchayat leaders had to welcome them ultimately. Kamal Thapa, who was almost killed by the rebels, is yet again enjoying his share of power.

The rumored virago of all times, Pampha Devi too was later considered culpable and she once regained the same love and affection among people. Could anyone please tell me what was the reason of the sudden change of heart? Life will always go on.

What we do not believe is&. we ourselves are the main perpetrator of our countrys present condition, we see what we want to see, hear what we want to hear and believe what we want to believe. We blame the leaders of screwing up the nation, but in fact we ourselves put us in such a position that we are easily decoyed by those demagogues.
Let us open our eyes, let us try to embrace the truth, let us be prudent and considerate, let our children practice what they learn, let us promulgate wisdom. If we are capable enough to identify ourselves, our country would definitely be a better place to live in.

I think we nepalese are just like that ... traditionally.

Look at our history. Bhimsen Thapa slaughters Damodar Pandey and his followers and assumes powers. Nepalese janata remain silent.

Bhimsen Thapa himself gets killed and disgraced as a result of the conspiracies by Damodar Pandey's son Rana Jung Pandey. Nepalese janata remains siltent.

Jung Bahadur Rana masterminds the infamous Kot Parba. Nepalese janata remains silent.

Bir Shamsher kills his own uncle Ranoddip and his cousins Jagat Jung + Jeet Jung, yet again Nepalese janata is silent.

17 saal ... Nepali janata accepts it.

even 46 saal ko jana sangharsha was a small scale revolution compared to the bloody revolutions in other countries.

And nepali janata sometimes does go beserk at times.

Baishakh 2047: when some policemen were beaten to death and their dead bodies driven thru the streets of kathmandu on thelagadas.

then, the Hritik Roshan kanda.

After all it were we Nepali janata, who elected and sent Nani Maiya Dahal to the parliament.
And in the subsequent Panchayat elections, most of the ballot papers had votes for anti-Panchayat candidate Padma Ratna Tuladhar AS WELL AS strong pro-Panchayat candidate Bimal Man Singh. (at that time we could vote for two candidates)

I don't remember who was it but somebody did say once "nepali janata bheda hoon"

Our insticnt to accept rumours and react to it, is one reason why we are in such a pitiful situation. Our emotions are easily ignited and before even they can flare up, they can again be smothered by silent breeze, what is left behind is the scar. A nasty scar created for no genuine reason and cause, look at the way communal violence nearly griped Nepal post Hritik kanda.
Witness to the genesis of that sad episode, and inability to use wisdom to prevent it shall ever hunt me. However, taking strength from all those incidences of running after the crow rather than feeling own ears, we should advance in spirit of love, respect and wisdom.
