Folks, I need help in finding some univ in US that offer graduate courses ( Masters, or integrated Ph D) in Pharmaceutical Sciences. A friend of mine tried some top-tiers last year, but couldn't get in (which surprised me a bit coz he's supposedly one of the very few geniuses in his field in the country). This year he plans to apply for mid and lower tier universities in the same field. So if your univ or a univ you know has biomedical sciences program or a faculty of pharmaceuticals/pharmaceutical sciences for graduate studies, I'd appreciate if you could mention the univ name here. All he needs is a few names..he'll take it on from there. Thanks for your response. Also, are you aware of a site where colleges in US can be searched by the area and level of study ?

Cupid1, I have forwarded the link to aacp.org to my friend. I thought it was a great website too! I don't know yet if he has come across a a few names that he might be interested in. I'll keep you posted. I am assuming he already knows about gradschools.com, but i will still forward it to him. Thanks for the links, guys.

you can also tell him to look into Oregon State and Penn State if they are not on the list. Oregon State just started their pharmacy department but its very good. They have a special program with OHSU, in which they spend two years at Oregon State and last two years at OHSU. By the way what exactly do you mean by "he's supposedly one of the very few geniuses in his field in the country." I hope he didnt put that in his resume. As far as I know pharmacists make $90k (starting sal.) There are a lot of people who want to make that money and thus the competition is pretty high in the field. --BV

Nuts, let me just give you some info I know about graduate studies in Pharmacy. Well to practice pharmacy in the States I guess you need to do this Pharm.D degree which you start after high school. It's almost a 7 year course. I guess there is no "Bachelor in Pharmacy" degree in US now. Has your friend done his B.Pharm degree from outside the states? If this is the case then he can enroll in a M.S degree in pharmacy in US. aacp.org is the best site to find all colleges that offer pharmacy degree. Another option for you friend is to do a 'Non-traditional' PharmD degree which is similar to the Pharm.D degree but it is for international students who have earned their bachelor of pharmacy degree outside the states. But I guess only a few Universities offer this program and very few seats available. One thing I'm not sure is that can you practice pharmacy after doing your M.S in pharmacy? I don't think so. P.S pls note that the above information is based on my personal knowledge and I don't promise all of it to be true.
