Just back from Pokhara attending the Travelling Film South Asia. The festival was organized by EGBOSA (Ex-Gandaki School Students Association). Unlike Kathmandu, the festival was held at a 600-seater commercial movie hall (Barahi Chalchitra Mandir). A total of 18 documentary-films were shown during three days.

"Itihas jitneharuko lagi" and "The rough cut on the life and times of lacchuman magar" was shown twice by popular demand.

The average attendance per screening was around 300. For the last two shows (Bheda ko oon jasto and Uhileko Nepal) there were around 1000 people inside the hall. People were seating on the aisles and some were standing on the stairways. There was still a large crowd outside the gates who couldn't get the tickets. It was incredible. As the tea-stall wallahs inside the hall claimed, they hadn't seen such rush since the opening of the hall.

However, I'm still confused by the crowd showing. Was it due to the reason that good documentary films really sell or was it because such an event was held for the first time in Pokhara?

Any comments on the above?
