Dhungana expresses optimism for dialogue KOL Report KATHMANDU, Nov 12 - Former Speaker and one of the facilitators during the failed talks between the Government and the Maoists, Daman Nath Dhungana has again expressed his optimism for a prospect of a negotiated settlement to the eight-year-old insurgency. Speaking during a programme by Organisation for Parliamentary Studies and Development Biratnagar Wednesday, Dhungana claimed that the two rounds of talks were not failures. He said both the security forces and the Maoists have been showing off their strength following the collapse of the talks nearly three months ago. But he added there were possibilities that the Maoists could return to the negotiation process. Dhungana claimed that the destruction of property and violence by the Maoists was their way of telling the world that they wanted to resume negotiations. He also said that the main stumbling block during the two previous round of talks the issue of the constituent assembly could be negotiated. (rk)
