Hey, are there any former or current AITians i.e. who went to Asian Inst. of Technology, Bangkok ? How is AIT now? How much do you find AIT education and life worth to you? in your post AIT professional and personal life? I surely feel it was great time that I had spent there for 32months. I wish I were a bird and reach there frequently. The worst part of AIT life is the stipend, is not it? AIT ko jay hosh. GP

GP, very homely envt. ; guru baa ko assignment; guru baa ko dhoka knock garna sochnu parne; snack bar, cafeteria - khau phad gai, tomyam kung, moon khau prao etc.; korea house; CAFE on the second floor of cafeteria; khrap-kha; cycle chori et cetera. GP, 4200 was quite bad......... at present it's 6950 (i think)... that is enough in bkk.. is not it?

Well, 7,000 is good number, compared to 4000 we have a few years back. Thanks for those nice things in AIT we missed in POST AIT life. I missed that bicycle ride to we used to have just move few 10s of meters. The campus as a whole was nice conglomorate and consolidated section in Thailand , was not it?

south ji, AIT trains all kinds of engineers--from mato engineer to microeclectronics engineers...it also trains in the fields like business, rural development, resource management, agriculture, aquaculture, etc. Recently, its funding source has been drying up after the end of cold war...

South, you are right there are more civil engineer than any other profession who graduated from AIT. Well, Civil Engineers always come to front when its engineering in developing countries. So, AIT has offered MS or PhD to civil engineers. Maximum number of Nepali Civil Engineers who had 2nd degree in engineering after BS/BE are from AIT, probably 70-80% of the totals having Masters in Eng. Well, in this count, I did not put those who had MS from Russia or East europe, because they have BS+MS = 5 years degree and called it Masters in Nepal's job and promotion criteria. Well, some who graduated from Russia and East Europe also landed in AIT for 2nd Masters. So, AIT is great institution to Nepali Civil Engineers. Unfotunately, most of them migrated to Australia. Wow, I have not yet migrated, but, who knows tomorrow. I am here for temporary, but, not sure how long will I stay here...... heheheeh.... Thats the life. Overall, I love AIT and AIT offered a great international community within 300m sqaure land.(well, it has more than 400hectures, but, housing is confined within 300m sqaure land). After TU, it offers highest number of Nepali Alumni, I guess among Nepalis with Masters or Ph.D. degrees. ............ AIT in Bangkok, that was another great combination, that made AIT much worth to visit and study. Khap Khun Khap. Ja Mata. GP

Many peoples get confused with 300square meter i.e. 30m x 10m type of land. While 300 m square ====> 300 m x 300m ko square pare ko land. GP

GP, whereabouts in Aus are you? Though I am not a product of A.I.T., I was there for a week few years back. I guess A.I.T. has provided Nepalese as a gateway to the rest of the world. Infact A.I.T. had been until recently the only way for Nepalese to break the shackles and venture out in the World. Usually, a PG degree from AIT was the a pre-requisite to actually compete internationally. It is bit different with lots of people chossing overseas as their destination to do the undergraduate studies. Especially lots of people choosing US, UK, Australia, NZ. There is also a growing trend for Nepalese heading off to Europe, esp. Norway, Germany, Denmark for studies where there is less competition and usually no tution fees at all.

AIT products are mostly in Japan, few in AUS, Few in Europe. AIT, a GATEWAY 4 Nepali TO the rest of the world. Getting admission not a cup of coffee. If u wanna join by ur own khubility of dhan, tuition fee sucks. "BKK airport is called MUNGLING."
