King must make efforts to avert foreign invasion:Dhungana
KOL Report

KATHMANDU, Nov 15 - Former Speaker Damannath Dhungana has said the King should make efforts to end the eight-year long conflict in the country. Speaking during a programme in Banke district Saturday, Dhungana said if the King doesn't make efforts to end the conflict, there are chances of foreign interference in the country. "The King should call an all party political conference before foreign powers land their interest in the country," said Dhungana. Dhungana, who was also one of the facilitators of the Government-Maoist peace talks, said the peace talks could be resumed if the King makes efforts for the purpose. He further said the constitution could be safeguarded only through formation of the constituent assembly. "The assembly also addresses the issues raised by the Maoist," he said. (snn)

I may be wrong but personaly i think we should have some foreign invasion, this is too much, this situaion is going on for eight years now and no one is doing anything.

How long is it going to take to solve this problem? After all we are all nepali, and we should understand each other. with having a ego 'ta bhanda ma ke kam' will not ever solve the current crisis. How much more incocent pple they would wana kill?? Its pity how they are killing 79 years old, who had done all the hard work all his life for better life now, and it counted for nothing.

This is a very serious situation, bring on some foreign intervation if not INVASION.

I dont know if it is true, but about a decade ago, i heard japan purposed it will take Nepal on a Lease for 25 years . Not sure what they wanted in return.

It would have been LOVELY country. we wouldnt be far behind then Switzerland.
porcelina Posted on 15-Nov-03 05:50 PM

How aba' makin' Nepal the 51st state of US and one of us Sajhaities being the Governer of that state. We could improve lotsa' things :-)
VincentBodega Posted on 15-Nov-03 11:18 PM

I was just wondering what would the world call us if they saw this thread and understood what we are talking about. I hope you guys dont show equal excitement when your the notion of your home being occupied by "foreign" element arises.
Its a sad state.

What do u think the world is calling NEPAL right now..of the the systems Maoist????
isolated freak Posted on 17-Nov-03 06:52 AM

Rest assured, nobody's going to invade us. Why invade us? What do we have?

I mean, in this age of Satellites and Magic Dust, why would America want to establish a base in Nepal to watch over India and China. It just doesn't make sense. Of course, their old school information gathering and influencing the decision making authorities of Nepal will continue, but invading Nepal... no way!

Why would India want to Invade us? I don't see any iminent threat from India either. Why? India doesn't want another Bihar, does it? Of Course, like all other Global and Regional Powers, it would keep on interfaring in our politics, but invasion threat is non existant.

Why would China want to invade us? China's calm policy twoards Taiwan should be enough to signal us that China has no intentions whatsoever to invade us.

Why would England want to invade us? It didn't invade us when it could, so invading us now just does not make any sense.

Why would Russia want to invade us?

Why would France want to invade us? They are happy drinking their Bourdeux wine, I don't think they have any intention to take over our Local Raxi Business.

I mean, look at all the Superpowers, nobody has interests in invading a small country between the two asian giants, a country that has nothing whatsoever to offer in terms of resources.. yeah yeah yeah, crystal from Ganesh Himal and probability of finding some natural Gas is are still there but would taht be enough to fund a US base or expenses of occupying army? Hell no.

Daman Dhungana is definately on drugs!!!

But here's a likely scenario: If the violence continues and if India, the US and China think that violence in Nepal is affecting their national security, then Nepal be well under the UN Peace Keeping forces.
