In one of the most gruesome acts, Maoist rebels buried alive a 27-year-old farmer of Pals Village in the remote Kalika Village Development Committee.

According to a delayed report, after abducting Kal Bahadur Budha, the rebels moved him to Seri Village of the neighbouring Madana VDC where he was buried alive in a ditch he was forced to dig himself with his legs chopped off.

Villagers at Seri said that the rebels first goaded him to dig a ditch and then forced him to lie in it. “When he resisted to lie down in the ditch he was forced to dig, the Maoists chopped off his legs and buried him alive despite pleas for mercy,” said the villagers, who were forced to watch the gory act.

Locals said that Budha was killed because his elder brother had a job in police force. The rebels had for long been forcing him to have his brother quit the job in the police force. Earlier, Budha’s wife and his parents had gone away with his police brother, Narendra, after rebels started coercing them also to make the policeman quit the job.

Villagers said that Budha was an ordinary farmer and had no links with any political parties.
