Early this morning I went online to read some fresh news and all I could read was the news of the death of people, news of terrorists organizations, wherever I went. What the hell is this? Have we fail to learn the lessons of history? The vietnam war, where more forces will never win the hearts and minds but will infact alienate many. The WW2 where Chambelain's failed appeasement policies of dealing with Hitler and his decrying of Churchill as a warmonger were a product of living in a ideal dream world? Warmongers just do not seem to understand that the dealing with terrorists groups like Al-Qaida is not using forces but by dismantling all differences and creating a common goal.
Terrorism is a product of years and years of frustration, being in the darkness of poverty, illeteracy and negligence felt by a considerable segment of the society. One just cannot chase out darkness by darkness. It is only through a peacful method that terrorism can be defeated. Revaluation of western, foreign and economic policy are required to reduce the hopelessness and frustrations felt by those in less westernised countries. We need to have a correct balance here. It is extremely important that government visions the significance of youth employment. If the government recruits these youths, the extremists will no longer have a rich vein of recruits. This is not a war in the conventional sense and therefore the only way to win is to use non-military tactics.
As Martin Luther King clearly pointed out,"You can kill a man, but you cannot kill an idea". Idelogy and religion is the basis of these terrorists organizaitions. You cannot defeat the ideology but can arrest the spread of it. The man of Colin Powell's stature said not too long ago that this war will not end in our lifetime. All knows what he is saying and the message he is trying to deliver. We are heading to a dark hole and we cannot recover from it. If corrective actions from here on are not taken, end of the world is inevitible.
Today the world wants justice. Lot of people are being killed and the leaders of west are operating under the policy of "if you not with us, you are with them". We have entered into choosing "dark age fundamentalism" and "new age techno facism", which is the very trap the terrorists wanted us to fall into. What do we choose? Lets realise that long term ethical foreign is the way forward. Choice is on our hands.
