As sad as these children's picture appears, it is better than the pictures of the several policemen we saw on these pages last week. Fortunately at this age, the children may not know that their condition is so depressed. In a few years they will understand and we have a short time to make their situation better. Improvemnets could be made by removing the PM.

You have a point there. It's too early to say what kinda of future is in store for these children. Many of our national leaders have come from a very humble background. Who knows they could be future ministers/professors/nightbus drivers in the making.

Their brothers and uncles are bitter Maoists and slaughtered policemen, their sisters are in brothels in India, and they are looking at us through this technology which is unimaginable to them and asking "What relation are we to you?"

Oh come on. They could be Bangladeshis or Indians for all we know. Don't just believe the caption. And how do we know some NGO has not had this picture taken just so it can raise $$$ from wealthy donors. Many organizations find poverty easy to cash in on. But regardless of who they are, it is a sad picture indeed and no children should have to live like this.

I am 400% sure that Nepalis are not that black in color(no offense to blacks intended). They must be dhotis or Bengalis or Madrasi or lankes. That car is not Benz stupid, that is Ambassador car of Madhises, which Nepalis rarely ride.

Hey Wamitaskar, I like your message. To me, it's worth one hundred high-browed analyses I come acorss GBNC. Not offence meant to fellow posters' intellectual pursuits. Santan thari tharika. While you and I spend hours on the web, and even bump into pleasant posters like you (keep your feet on the ground), I wonder how many Bill Gates are being wasted on the other side of the digital divide.

Then is it possible that you were the one who drove the car there, and took the picture, and then fleeaway hoping to reap your harvest in some glittering city like Boston. Tell me , or else what is your contribution dude, rather than showing a sad and optimistic side of Nepal. Don't tell me you want to make me aware of poverty in Nepal. All Nepalese are aware that Nepal is land of poor people.

There are certainly flat and dry places like this in Nepal. These are probably Tharu children. We have to ask if the children are caring for other children, their brothers and sisters.

This is not poverty. It is just because of administration of Nepalese political environment.
