Today, one of my friends who is currently carrying green-card delivered this message to me during our chat : "i don even think of going nepal anymore..... now i am american" I was stunned but congratuled him/her "oh!!, teso VAYE DHERAI DHERAI BADHAI CHHA" And got the reply "dherai dherai dhanyabad" Then I promptly logged off. ------- I would like to know the view from the NEPALI who are residing/working/studying/with hariyo-kagaj/carrrying US citizenship or any other status in the US that " CAN YOU PEOPLE EVER FEEL LIKE SAYING - I don even think of going nepal anymore..... " How much Mega Watt does that Hariyo-kagaj carry? Does it have such a huge influence that will easily divert one's feeling and that will make him/her forget our NEPAL and NEPALIPAN??? NEPRICAN vanne ho testo lai????????????????

Well, it is the story of this life. Everyone forms an opinion based on his /her past experience and decides what he/she wants to do with the life. He/she is entitled to go ahead with it and do things that make him happy. My only suggestion is it is important to get it right because you do not get many chances. Before too long we would all be in our final stage of the journey and would be thinking 'what I have done with my life.' I personally cannot imagine severing ties with my country, whatever its state. I do not have a green card either, so I do not belong to that category. Everybody makes his/her own decisions based on informed choices and past experiences. I have no problems with that because I believe the whole of humanity is part of the same process. The concept of nationalities and boundaries are somewhat artificial but they are real. But as we have all seen, they can change.

Hey Neural, Must be a coincidence that i heard a friend of mine say similar or more or less exact thing recently too and i must confess i was kind of taken aback like you were. and was wondering why or what made him come to that conclusion. and it was a long chain of events and experiences i presume. and i agree with peda on that. however i have also come to observe that coming to america (or anything foriegn for that matter), for some ppl signifies this freedom of will and independence and if they want to hold on to that, or even create something new of their own., they will probably decide on something like that - even though it sounds like they are going to severe the ties to the past; period. they must have their own ways of holding on to their heritage and keeping alive the link of who they are, if they have come to such an ultimate decision (even verbally), because remember expressing it verbally means - trying to reinforce what you are starting to believe in. at least that's what i think and i am offering you my humble opinion. let me know if you think it makes sense. for me, i am more of a entepreneur myself, if you know what i mean, so my gutt is to believe in ppl when they try to create something new and exciting and congratulate them to make it a success. sametime i am a traditionalist too, so i understand where u come from when new ideas come your way.

LadyBug ji le Micasa fone card lai lat mari satellite video phone ma kura gareko dekhera yo thread ma sajha bus bata orli Neural ko thread ma ke raichha bhanera herna ayeko hai ma ta... Neural dai, the guy is definitely excited. Won't you? Or, "grapes are sour"!! Otherwise, why would everyone say "America, the land of opportunities"? The reason for his excitement is due to the differntial opportunities between Nepal and USA, although he might be a taxi driver or dishwasher here. But, if he or his future generations have potential to become Albert Einstein, America provides every opportunities to them. But who knows USA may be like Russia after 100 years??

Let me add something: I've seen a Nepali who've changed his Nepali name and his kids names are complete English. He completly acts American and speaks only English with all his Nepali folks. How about that...trust me...I've seen such a Nepali person who came to this country a few years later than me. And I'm here online even trying to find more Nepali friends. Only in America... And other guy (who thinks he's born an American in Nepal) I met told me as we were talking of Nepali music "I've never heard of Narayan Gopal" and he went to school in Kathmandu. He's like "I've only listened to English songs". Come on....it's Narayan Gopal ! Well it's a matter of personal choice and we can't help it. If somebody spent their most of thier life here, I can understand of if they were born of Nepali parents, I can understand. But for somebody who's spent 20+ years of his/her life not to look back, U can call me crazy or U can bring any reason before me, I'm not going to buy it. It's plain what we call "Jun Thalma Kha yo thehi thalma Cheerni". Let's just pray that we do not loose more people, especially young ones like that and some day, they'll go back home. At least they can spread the words of wisdom to our people at least.

"i don even think of going nepal anymore..... now i am american" these words are only from those nepalese who are not nepali anymore so there is no need to stunned on hearing such remarks. Bhunte jee why dont u ask him what he is doing in sajha.com and writing nepali words in english spellings. Anyway "Person's priority and decision changes according to the event and situation, respectively." this is true and we faces such situations frequently as u faces. But one of the saying in sajah.com page ( janani janmabhumisch swargadiapi gariasi) always remind me my janmbhumi.
