Has anybody converted their H1-B visa to Green Card, or are knowledgeable about the process? What does it take? I know the sponsor has to post the job requirements publicly and demonstrate that no other US citizens were able to meet the requirement. But how hard is the process. Is there a timeline that you have to wait after getting your H1-B before applying for the Green Card? Thx in advance.

It depends which state you are in. Advertising process is called RIR. It is fast in some states but in some states like California some people got rejection because there are too many unemployed people. There are 2 level of labour certificate. State and Federal. In California it takes 2+ years for labor certificate to clear. But in some states like Vermont Montana it takes just 5 months. After that it takes 3-4 months to get the work permit. After that it takesh indefinite time to get the 485. US government has stopped giving the 485. For more information goto www.immigration.com
