Dear all, I thought it a worthy cause to attach this thread for all of us. Since we are all aware who are here in the United States that the forthcoming general election is going to be an interesting event and it has a far reaching ripple effects in the future. We live in this country mostly as non immigrants or immigrants and significant numbers of nepalese people have contributed more or less to the well being of this society in exchange for the educational as well as life shaping experiences it bestows upon us. Some of us might not at all care about what happens here, but most of us end of speding the prime of our lives here and hope to glean critical problem solving approaches to our everyday lives. Those who differ with the very nature of this capitalist republic may not find it worthy to give their insights into the topic, but so far it seems like the coming election will be Howard dean Vs. George Bush. What are your takes on the two candidacies? Healthy comments welcome! |

I think his recent comments after the cature of SH, unless something miracle happens, will haunt him in the election. If Bush wil get nothing out of SH to confess with WMD and other stuff like that, Howard Dean has a good chance and can use the case to help him. |

The recent capture of SH has definitely put Bush in big advantage. however there are issues with it - It is very logical for oppositions to comment the negative aspects of it; e.g. where is the WMD till now. What are the findings based on Powell’s images showing WMD activities in Iraq, did SH admit his WMD plans etc. I particularly believe that Bush somehow told false to Americans and the world regarding the WMD in Iraq, which was not fully based on facts, but made it a means to start bombing Iraq. That is why they don find any such weapons till now. Nevertheless, capture of SH is good for Americans and Bush deserves the credit. Bush was clever to meet the troops for thanks giving; I believe such activities give indication on how much he is concerned for the fellow Americans. Howard Dean is a potential candidate to be in the WH, but I think Dean is getting out of track a little bit and this might become very unfruitful for him to win the election. Its simply not fair if Dean just does not acknowledge the capture of SH and say like: Not SH but Osama is the main problem. The tragedy of Lockerbie bombing is still fresh to the Americans and at this moment, just welcoming Moammar Gadhafi for giving up WMD might not be very acceptable to many Americans. I think Bush is not very clever in what he is saying about this case. The issue of unemployment, jobs going outside US are still very pertinent issues which can influence the election, but it seems like majority of Americans give a damn to such issues. I wish Democrats win, but I am getting indications that Bush might again win the election, and his plans will ruin the nation (in my opinion). May God keep blessing this blessed land. And finally, a very funny comment, my opinion must have elated Arunima ---– one sajhaite has shown interest in his/her thread. Just kidding. |
