This is the time to finally make a short film based on Bhupi's "Ghumno Mech Maathi Andho Manche". oohi ashu ktm,nepal 2nd ZEBRA Poetry Film Award July 1– 4, 2004 As part of the Berlin 2004 poetry festival, the literaturWERKstatt berlin, together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH (German Technical Cooperation) and interfilm berlin, is inviting submissions for the 2nd international ZEBRA Poetry Film Award, which is endowed with total cash prizes of 10,000 EURO. The deadline is March 31, 2004. The international jury will announce the winners from July 1 to 4,2004.The ZEBRA Poetry Film Award has become established as the largest viewing forum for short films relating to poetry in terms of content, aesthetics or form. It offers filmmakers from all over the world an opportunity to take the measure of their work and to exchange ideas above and beyond the confines of language and culture. A variety of events, an international colloquium and a full-fledged retrospective complete the 2nd ZEBRA Poetry Film Award program. The ZEBRA Poetry Film Award is a project of the literaturWERKstatt berlin in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH and interfilm berlin. It enjoys the kind assistance of the Hauptstadtkulturfonds and the Goethe Institute. Rules 1. Entry requirements Eligible are films and videos up to 10 minutes long, produced after January 1, 2000. All films submitted must demonstrate a clear connection to one or more poems. The following formats are permitted: 35mm and Beta SP/PAL. CD-Rom and the video formats Beta digital, Beta SP/NTSC and U-Matic may not be shown. 2.Registration The deadline for registration is March 31, 2004. Applications must contain the following documents: a completed registration form (also available as download at www.zebra-award.org), a preview video in VHS or DVD format, a German or English translation of the poem or poems, if appropriate a German or English dialogue list, a B/W or colour photo from the film or video, a brief synopsis and a biography and filmography of the director. All written documents are also to be made available in digital form (disk, CD-ROM or E-mail). Applicants pay the costs of mailing the preview cassette and background material. Packages from countries outside of the EU must clearly bear the text: “Temporary use. For cultural purposes only. The contents have no commercial value. ”They are to include a pro forma invoice (download at www.zebra-award.org) amounting to a maximum of EURO 19 (under no circumstances should the amount of the actual production costs be given, even if they were higher).Packages that are falsely represented or without postage paid will not be accepted. Preview cassettes remain in the archives of literaturWERKstatt berlin and will be mailed back only at the express wish of the applicant, who must bear all costs. The registration of the films submitted automatically applies to all parts of the program. The languages of communication are German and English. Selection of films The program commission will select films from those submitted for the international competition and all other program areas. On May 15, 2004, a list of the films selected will be posted at www.zebra-award.org. Until that time, inquiries about the selection will not be answered. As of mid-May, all participants will be informed by E-mail about the results of the competition. 4. Submission of the screening copies The screening copies of the films selected must have arrived at literaturWERKstatt berlin by June 15, 2004, at the latest. Costs for shipment to Berlin are borne by the sender. This also applies to copies sent to Berlin from other festivals. It is recommended that contributors have the documents of reimportation (required for the customs authorities) issued before the films or videos are shipped. The instructions on shipping given under Point 2 apply for the shipment of screening copies as well. Costs incurred due to inaccurate declarations or lack of postage will be billed to the sender. literaturWERKstatt berlin will cover the costs of return shipment of screening copies. 5. Insurance The sender accepts all risks for mailing via a shipping company. The films and videos are insured during the festival at their print value. Requests for compensation for damages are to be made at the latest 10 days following return mailing. The place of jurisdiction shall be Berlin. Further information at www.zebra-award.org |
