Remembering immortal Bhanu even in US is a great news.

The posting in literature ,however, does more mentioning of
mortal names, than the immortal soul himself.

Please, take it as my good-willed criticism: the long list of
names was worthless mentioning. Rather we could have enjoyed the
poem that won the first prize, had it been posted.

It reminded me Radio Nepal reporting. Which can be somewhat like
this:

" Prime Minister Ghanashyam Bakradristi today chaired the meeting
organized to commemorate the birth day of great poet Laxmi Pd
Devkota. On the occassion, prime minister said that poets are
tresure of the country, and recalled that he used to write poems.

Minister of education Agyani Sharma said the democracy is still in
danger, and so poets should speak against any such attempt.

The sabhapati of Royal Nepal acadamy Dangdunge Lal, Sabhapati of
Nepali COngress district committee Uddanda Bahadur, Adhyachchhya
of UML district committee Ugrabadi Thulung, MPs dot, dot, dot, and dot, etc.......also spoke on the occasion...."

I think there should be a limit about how many names should be
mentioned, and where the report should focus.

Notwithstanding the sheer cascade of names of every Ram, Madan and GhanaShyam in that posting on Bhanu Jayanti, I, for one, am happy to note that Nepalis living elsewhere in the United
States (such as DC, in this case) feel welcome enough to visit this site to let us all know about what's going on in their communities.

I mean, it's great to hear about Bhanu Jayanti in DC on a Boston
Web site.

Stuff like this bodes well for this Web site's reach and influence.

Keep up the good work, all.

Biswo,
I agree with your comment. I have forwarded your constructive criticism to INLS, D.C.

I was there and it was hardly some bigshot kabhi goshti. It was just some nice people who'd gotten together and called it Bhanu Jayanti. And all that namedropping! uggh!
What were we? jansadharan?
Please, people need to get off that weird clinging onto that stupid aspect of our society. My uncle is the relative of the president of whatever attitude.
I had a good time watching the Volleyball Match. Kali Gandaki seemed like a professional team I must add.

All,
Thank you for your comments. I guess, I did go little overboard by putting names of org. and people when I posted the message. My apologies if I hurt the feelings of others who were present there. I learned a lesson!

As VP of the organization, I would like to thank everyone who participated and hope to receive similar support on upcoming Laxmi Jayanti.

Puruji
We all learn by doing - it is the experience. I hope your next reporting after Laxmi Jayanti will have accommodated all these suggestions. I wish a grand success of your next program.

Puruji:

Thank you very much for the humility with which you accepted our
criticism. My criticism was not of the program, and I am very
proud of what you did.

Kabigoshthi organized in USA can't be very good rightnow, because
we have very few really good poets here. But slowly this can
change. It is good enough that people have started to think about
our great poets.

Biswoji,

Thank you for your encouragement.

INLS has been organizing Bhanu Jayanti at the same location/park since last 10 years. This has been a well established tradition in D.C. People have started to participate in greater numbers since last couple of years. Although we had support from all local organizations, very few actually represented in previous year's programs. This year the representation of local organizations increased as well in addition to attendees. I got so excited that I happen to mention the names in the message I posted.

INLS has also been organizing Laxmi Jayanti at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA in formal setting since last 4/5 years. Last year, we were able to attract more than 300 attendees. We did this by offering a formal cultural program. We plan to continue the tradition of remembering our Maha Kavi this year as well. We tried to schedule our Executive Committee meeting during Jayanti of other poets..

Just wanted provide some background about INLS activities in terms of remembering the poets...

We created a literature site called "Nepali Sahitya Jagat" or Nepali Literature Home Page about 7/8 years ago but did not have enough time to update. The site sponsor moved on to different business and it is no longer accessible.

But, we have registered a domain name called inls.org and in the process of creating new site called www.inls.org. We hope to put detail info about INLS as well as allow language/literature interested people to collaborate on this site.

I hope I provided some useful info with my broken english without making any mistakes.
