The file you have may possibly be corrupt. Kazaa users in North America are urged to cease and desist forthwith from using that P2P service. Or anything like it. This is for your own continued well being and to prevent a subpoena and lawsuit being slapped on you by the RIAA. Despite the recent court ruling siding with the ISP's and a setback in the handing over of IP address user names. It is thought that automated software spiders continue to crawl computers connected to the internet in search of material believed to be copied in violation of copyrights. IP encryption and spoofing services don't always provide the bullet proof immunity they advertise. Mr. Frost, a stroll down Canal street on a weekend would yield a treasure trove of celluloid on DVDs. At a far lower TCO, if one were to factor in the lawsuits and settlement costs. Just a thought, mind you.

Robert, More than likely you are missing one/many of various codecs available. I recommend you use a free codec finder software (i.e. GSpot) in order to locate the missing codec(s) in your PC. Here is the URL, where you can download it for free: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html I would not worry about the RIAA lawsuits. czar's reference to lawsuits pertains only to users who share their copyrighted files for others to download. As long as you don't do this, you are safe. Enjoy! -JavaBeans

Well Javabeans, whether you let somebody download copyrighted materials from your hard-drive or you download from somebody else's hard drive, you still violate the copyright laws. That's what I know. I used to use Morpheus, Morpheus 2.0, then Kazaa, and then Kazaa lite, but stopped a long time ago. I wouldn't take a chance by downloading anything free as they say "there is no such thing as a free lunch." Luckydude

Luckydude, Obviously, I am not encouraging Robert to misuse the copyrighted work. Of course what he is doing isn't exactly legal, and we all know it. The digital copyright laws are highly complex and it's evolving as I write. At the moment, MPAA/RIAA is going after large distributors of copyrighted work rather than the individual users who download it. Most probably b/c there are too many to police. So, when I say it's safe I mean the possibility of MPAA coming after you is very minimal. This goes along with any dowload/upload of intellectual property whether it's a copyright or a trademark. But please, whoever is reading this, download it at your own risk ! -JavaBeans

Mr. Czar, My apologies to you and many others who share your sentiments. I second you without doubt. Some freelunchers here with me you know. I have stopped using p2p file sharing a long time back. However, since it was already downloaded,I worked on trying to fix it all day long but could not do it so thought about posting here.I was in two minds to whether post it before I let San know about it because a lot of sites donot promote discussion on Ripping DVDS. I would urge San to remove this discussion right away if he wishes to. Javabeans, The codec didnot work. Maybe the problem with the file itself. I did try mpeg3 codec and codec on DIVX, none of them worked. Plus I tried searching for tmd player itself but can't seem to find the download site. Anyways, thanks a lot for you input on this.

Mr. Frost, I apologize to you instead. It wasn't my intention to come across as holier-than-thou and huffily lecture you on copyright violation. Au contraire, my effort was directed towards to alerting you to the RIAA and their countless subpoena's issued from an Alexandria court. It is a real and continued possibility and I would hate to have anyone face such, especialy such a a fine poet and writer. It is also an invalid belief that the RIAA is only going after the big fish. Even those with fifteen or so files were targeted, served notice and ended up in court with a settlement. Several months ago, the media in New York was abuzz with stories of a 13 year old African-American female, and one who lived in the projects no less, whose mother had to cough up several thousand dollars as such a settlement. There was outrage over it no doubt, but the RIAA is in single-minded pursuit of any and everyone it feels is diddling its members out of their pricey $18 a CD / DVD business model. Not to mention the very publicly lamented 9% drop in CD sales last year and the rest of the breast beating by the audio and video industry. Anyone is a fair target wherever they can get to you. Cheers all !

If you really love a movie or a song, you should respect those who created it.If a movie or a song is really worth preserving, you should buy an original copy.If it is just a pastime, it's not worth taking a risk.I may be wrong, but this is what I think. DP
