I am looking for somebody to assist my mother in getting back home to Nepal between January and February of 2004. She does not speak english. Her reservation is with Northwest/KLM and Thai Airways.

She can fly from Boston, New York or DC area.

I will greatly appreciate your help in this matter.

Adhi Jyu,
Now I think about it, it might be too late as it is the last day of the year already and my parents are flying Jan 5th. Sorry couldn't help you out. There is a way though , I don't know if you know about this or not and a little note of warning is that it might make her feel uncomfortable.
I had my uncle come here for a visit and he wouldn't speak any english and he wanted to go back and like in your case couldn't find anyone to go with him. He insisted he could go alone if I write the instructions in english to show to others and one in nepali for him. I did that but still I wasn't sure if that would be good enough. I asked the NWA attendant at the desk about the issue and said that all you have to do is ask for Wheel Chair assistance. So basically someone will come with your mother's name with a wheel chair, and he/she would take her to another gate until she reaches Kathmandu. If she can't read all she has to do is show the ticket and the wheelchair assistant will take her to the next gate for her next flight.
I don't know if you will feel comfortable doing this...but I think this is the best solution if flying alone. As for my uncle, I talked to him after he landed Kathmandu over the phone and he was happy that he didn't need to walk anywhere :-)
Best Regards and Happy New Year

It is possible that people can have "Linguistic Disability". I don't think there is anything to feel uncomfortable about it.

Not a bad idea but the problem is a long transit at the airport in bangkok. Sometimes we are too protecitive for our loved ones.

It shouldn't be that hard to find Nepalese at Bangkok Airport.
