NEW YEAR CHEER At the sound of the tolling midnight bell a brand new year will begin. Let's raise our hopes in a confidant toast, to the promise it ushers in. May your battles be few, your pleasure many, your wishes and dreams fulfilled. May your confidence stand in the face of loss and give you the strength to rebuild. May peace of heart fill all your days may serenity grace your soul. May tranquil moments bless your life and keep your spirit whole.

PS: We celebrate almost all the festivals..from Dashain, tihar to Christmas.I wish Ramadan was not about fasting, so that we could celebrate it too" Hey DP jyu, I am not trying to refute you but I was just wondering about how we celebrate all the festivals here in US in the name of glorifying them. The underlying fact I have seen in US is its not the festivals we want to celebrate, but rather find another excuse to drink and party (Not that I find anything wrong with it ;). Even in the most authentic Nepali programs, after a few culturally rich music, the techno, hiphop and the bhagras take over and we proclaim that we are preserving our heritage. :)...well, the good news is..we still remember the name of the festivals :) Hey nepe dai, Wonderful poetry....hope to see more of those in future! btw, mero ni naya barsa ko suvakamana..yappi yappi new year! Himal bhanda aglo kamana, Bishaal timro samjhana, Hasi rahos timro zindagi, yehi cha timlai mero, Naya barsha ko suvakaman RE KYA AJHA! |

Thank you Oys and Brikuti for your nice words. Bhrikuti ji, If you are a newcomer, then let me, on behalf of all Sajhaites, extend a warm welcome to you. By the way, I remember once I had given this name 'Brikuti' to NK. By the way, where the hell has NK disappeared ? Khoj-khabar paam. And really by the way, the above poem of mine, with a minor extension, is appearing in freenepal.com too. |

Nepe, Happy New Year! If Nepe had written the type of new year greetings above during late 80s, this time we might be reading Nepe as a top notch neta was given audience by King and so. How come such idea didn't supur in Nepe's mind that time? Or, are they archived in Nepe's secret diaries?...lol. Nepe's gajal itself is great, but the content to be valued as great as gajal a real hard work may be necessary to convince those many ghayel Nepali over the past 13 years...this is my very neutral and apolitical opinion hai... |

Bhunte ji, I do not know how to reply to your query. But thank you for your remarks. The above poem or just about any poem of mine is not necessarily about me. As it is true for every fictional work, a protagonist is a protagonist. This person exists in writer's imagination, but not necessarily as the writer him/herself. Therefore thinking to reward a poet/writer for the characters of his/her creation is too kind, if not naive. As for my political resume, I thought you know by now that I am far away from party politics since my 'palaayan' from Akhil, my Alma mater, so to speak, exactly in 80'. I dream about the republic of Nepal and share my dream with friends whenever and wherever I get chance. But I must tell that this has been mostly a lonely journey of mine. May be not any more. But this is all about my political resume for now. And I also thought you must know by now that being a neta who gets audience of the king is not a dream but a nightmare for me. On the same note, I find Krishnajwala Devkota quite appropriately phrasing the current series of Darshan-bhet as a rat race made difficult by students' movement (See 'Darshan bhet ko Musa daud-lai vidyarthi aandolan ko fanda', Kantipur, today) A little disgression, but it seems Maharaj Gyanendra is out to play his game. Well good luck to him. But sooner he realize that there is only one point agenda the history is with on his table to negotiate and that that is the mother of all agendas, the better. |

Why do I feel... like a solitary swan, gliding in silent rythms. As the year slides, in easy sweep, in graceful arch. My past captured in a woven casket, sprinkled with flowers of joys. A vessel bound to enternity, baptized by sacred tears. The present, a voiceless experience, stretched into the future, in unuttered anticipation. I wish every Sajhaite ( Silent as well as "vocal" readers) positive vibes and energies for this year! Nepe ji: May I, appease my thirst with the beauty in your script, in silence! |

A belated Happy New Year to all the sajhabasis. Nepe ji kabita ramro lagyo. Amik Sherchan also decided not to see the king. Reason: the parites have already stated their position umpteen times and why another needless natak. I liked that. Sitara ji, positive vibes and energies to you too !!! |

Sitara, My past captured in a woven casket, sprinkled with flowers of joys. A vessel bound to eternity, baptized by sacred tears. Ah, the harmony with and the celebration of life the way it is these lines convey ! *************************** VillageVoice, Amik Sherchan also decided not to see the king. Reason: the parites have already stated their position umpteen times and why another needless natak. I liked that. Me too. And I think this is among few good things the smaller Leftists have done to be forgiven for their otherwise absurd Communist tag. And thank you for your nice word to my poem. Here is a slightly longer version. - http://www.freenepal.com/8poem_deepak.htm |
