Ghising for emergency

Chairman of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) Subash Ghising, during his short visit to Kathmandu on Thursday, advised the King to impose emergency under Article 115.

He suggested this during a felicitation program organized by Media Reporters’ Club. Speaking in the program he said, "The present system is not functioning well so I suggest to the King to use the constitutional power for the betterment of Nepal".

He added, “the King should impose emergency without any delay and head towards forming a new constitution." He, however, suggested to the King not to ignore the political leaders while forming the new constitution.

Earlier, he said that no one should be blamed for the prevailing crisis in the country. “Its not any particular party or the person who is responsible for the present situations rather its the policy adopted by Nepal during the last decade.” He said.

Making comments regarding Nepal’s policy he said, “Nepal practiced highly centralized power even after the restoration of democracy”.

Ghising said that people living in the rural areas of Nepal do not feel their presence in the government. “Therefore power must be decentralized”, he said. nepalnews.com pd jan16

I am a little confused as to how to react on this development. Is it a brotherly help from our eastern Nepali dajubhai or an international mediation in Nepal's internal affair.
dazzling ko keti Posted on 16-Jan-04 02:54 PM

As much as I am a supporter of the Gorkhaland cause, Ghising(AKA Iskus) is an utter failure and disppointment to the Darjeeling Nepalis. He is the Judas Iscariot who betrayed his own people for some spare change not handed, but flung at him by the Indian govt (Dhikaaar). He is an utter shame. An idiot with absolutely "NO" principles to boast of and should not even be the last person to comment on "politics", coz he doesn't have a freakin clue about ANYTHING!!!!

I'd much rather live under Jyoti Basu and the maoists, than live under an immoral beast like him.

.I agree with the above person on the fact that Subash Ghising has not been an ideal leader for the people of darjeeling.

He is a mere pawn in the hands of the Indian government and is often used by the Indian government to relay messages to his people.

It is an utterly unbelievable thing that a respected leader who is supposed to liberate the people of darjeeling from the Indian government and grant his people the ultimate boon of a separate country, is now starting to advise the King of Nepal to employ emergency in Nepal.

Subash Ghising is proving everyday that he is no longer a faithful leader for the salvation of his people. He has become a disgrace to the people of Darjeeling and now he is on his way to being disgraced by the Nepali people; who until now have always been in his support.

ghising nepal ghoosing or ghisaring? Ghising gham taping in nepal or ghans kating?
alnepali Posted on 21-Jan-04 09:24 AM

...
Subash Ghising should stick his nose where it belongs. While the general "District" DISAPPROVES of him, why does he think that his "two piece" will answer to the needs of general "State".

What's up with the Monarch anyways? Why can't its office LISTEN/BUILD trust with its OWN, rather than finding refuge beyond borders?

Dazzling ki keti, As much as I agree with you on your first para, not only I detest your choice to live under Jyoti Basu, I object to your calling Ghising an immoral beast. You seem to imply that there are moral beasts among whom Ghising lives.

I suspect people are being unnecessarily harsh with S Ghising brother!

Come on, Nepal is today such an open field that every airay, gairay and khairey is dispensing every kind of advise and recommendation! From ambassadors, envoys, human rights experts, conflict management professionals, foreign politicians, journalists have all given us their pearls of wisdom...and we have all accepted it with due gratitude.

Now along comes Ghising and dispenses his own two cents and suddenly we see this as foreign intervention! Come on, if we are okay with Laloo Yadav and Bihari Bajhpaiyee telling us what to do, why can't Ghising budo say what's on his mind? Akhi, ago tapnu muda ko, kuro snnu budako bhanchan ganthe! Or are we implying that only people from the plains have brains and those of us from the hills have something else?

So, if anything, let us spare ourselves self-inflicted racism!
