I must say I am sympathetic to both sides on this one.
Sure, the royal visage leaves much to be desired. I wonder how hard it can be to put on a grin - even a quick, commercial one just for the camera. Any airline steward could give him a lesson on the art of false warmth.
But then, can you come up with one reason - just one - why he should be smirking right now? His kingdom, or what is left of it, is in upheaveal; the Maoist mayhem is getting worse; the economy is headed south, the political parties are getting shriller and meaner; the party students are shouting nasty and outright indecent abuses right outside his palace gates. And as if that was not enough, the usually mild mannered Sajhapures have also joined the republican chorus bitchin' against him. Any suprise that he can't seem to put on anything other than the royal frawn of disgust? Give him his due, at least he has no false face, he expresses what he feels.
Seriously, were we in his place, could we have put on anything better than that, honestly?
