This explains very well why both hinduism and Nepal are in this sorry state today. Hinduism, which has some good stuffs, can be easily manipulated and abused by those who are in power. That is why it is good only for discussion not for practice. It talks for the universal reality but bars its own fellows from visiting its temples. It is an example of how a very good thing can be made very ugly. Nepali kings are eager to take the privilege but not the responsibility. They don't know that privilege comes with responsibility. Gyanendra wants to be the samrat of all hindus, but does he know the responsibility that it entails? What qualities does he have to take this title? In the past, kings used to renounce their kingdom and go for Baanprastha to be in union with god. Only kings like Janak could be the samrat. It seems that both Hinduism and monarchy are determined to go in bhadkhalo together. "Musibat akele nahi aate" |

Gyanendra's decoration as a Hindu samrat is one more futile attempt to legitimize his ill-earned rule. Yes, Gokuljee, this guy does not know bit about responsibility; all he knows is how to manipulate others and get his interest served: Make money and save crown for Paras. That way if he has to run away, he will have enough to live a luxurious life in England or wherever he gets asylum and if kingship continues fine, coninue with the barbarously feudal line in Nepal no matter what. My feeling is that his promotion to the Hindu samrat symbolizes and foreshadows his impending overthrow and with that the overthrow of monarchy from Nepal. |

What kind of felicitation is this? A felicitation by the organization whose head is Bharat Singh, a former Shahi Parshwawarti (read: a former Aide-De-Camp, ADC). I pity this repugnant desire to get felicitated. Oh, his majesty's infinite desire to get felicitated is only matched by his infinite desire to get more and more power. Like one columnist in one Nepali paper suggested, where were these Jogis/Hindu Sangh/etc people when Nepali [read: the people of only Hindu kingdom of Nepal] people had to line up in a kilometer-long queue to buy kerosene thanks due to another Hindu nation, India? By declaring king Gyanendra a "Hindu-Samrat", the Jogis have put him in the company of the likes of Kim Jong Il(For North-Koreans, the only Communist ruler), Mullah Omar (For Talebas, the only ruler of Moslem) and Pop John Paul (I guess, relatively better company). Good luck to him. |

Oh Biswo Ji... you are full of hate!! Peace man ... don't hate someone so much that you will begin to hate yourself someday!! Take a deep breath and relax! Your ranting is not going to change anyone's mind. They all know your extreme biases. Having said that in this day 'n age who cares if he (Gyan) is a samrat or whatever... it's like who cares man! He will never be a good king and some day he will be thrown out ... ya ya I know you are probably going to say that GOOD KING is oxymoron ... don't bother with that ok! I see Nepal being destroyed by this opportunistic democratic forces. I see Nepal no more in a very short time. I see BABU RAM destroying all! If only the democratic parties will speak against the Maoist as much as they protest against the KING ... we would've had peace in Nepal a long time ago! The reality is that the parties are not afraid to protest against the king (let's say his regressive moves). But the so called democratic parties run like bunch of RATS when it comes time to Unite against the KILLERS ... the Maoist!!! I think this Sajha discussion board is filled with Maoist in disguise claiming to be for DEMOCRACY ... they see, rightly so, that they will be able to defeat the WEAK DEMOCRATIC forces in Nepal and take control to realize their dreams of haveing their REPUBLIK! In other hand they see the MONARCHY as the only thing that is standing in between them and their dream of communistic REBUBLIK!! I don't know about you but I would rather have Monarchy than the Maoists .... however, I would rather have DEMOCRACY than either one of those options ... howeve for the short term we might need to settle for the less evil option!!! Bilbo: Frankly, I don't care if you think I am a Maoist. I don't have to give explanation for that. A man is a Maoist or a Royalist or a democrat by his deed.If I appear to be a Maoist to you, then so be it. Now, it is platitudinous to say Monarchy is the only thing that stands between a republican and a republic. I mean, come on man, let's have something else as a discussion topic. No, It is not true that the parties are not fighting against the Maoists. Let me ask you: who is dying more because of the Maoists? Who are those office holders in local elections who were ousted from the villages? The parties are waging silent war. They are waging the war of resistance against the Maoists. Everywhere. Those who were skinned alive by the Maoists in Gulmi were not the royalists, but the activist of Nepali Congress. The man who was killed in Rukum while resisting the Maoists in the general election was a UML activist. The teacher killed in Lamjung was noone but the NC supporter who resisted the Maoists there. Countless others are there. They don't have guns, so they protest with moral authority and put themselves in the harm's way. Similarly, they are also fighting against the venal king. Look , you fight against the king where he and his agents are. There are only a handful of royalists in our country anymore, and they are all now living a life of parasite, gnawing the bones of our economy, in the capital.Hence the major fight against the king is in the capital, more predictably in front of his palace. |

BB jyu, Don't despair, the five political parties and the seven student organizations alliance has decided to launch a major protest against the Maoist for abducting young students for Western districts. The party leaders said they will burn effigies of Prachanda and Baburam if the school kids are not released from illegal detention immediately. Here is the news from kantipuronline.com: Rebels abduct 150 students in Achham KOL Report ACHHAM, Jan 27 - Maoist rebels Monday abducted at least 150 students from the Bannatoli Village Development Committee to involve them in their mass meetings. The VDC is located about three hours walking distance from Mangalsen, the district headquarters. The villagers who arrived in the district headquarters for personal businesses said that the rebels were forcing secondary-level school students to attend their mass meetings since last week. Locals said the rebels had already staged political meetings in the Bhatakot, Budhakot, Sodasa, Mel Lek, Babla and Devisthan VDCs over the weekend. “The rebels especially press the students for shouting anti-party and anti-multiparty democracy during the meetings,” said a villager requesting anonymity. He quoted the rebels as saying that the students would be released after the conclusion of Maoist mass meetings. The rebels are also learnt to have forced lower secondary-level students to distribute political pamphlets in villages. Meanwhile, A group of armed Maoists looted 20 buses and trucks within one hour Sunday evening. The Maoists armed with knives and guns blocked the Nijgadh and Chandranigahapur section of the Mahendra Highway and took away all the money collected by the bus conductors. They, however, did not loot the passengers. Most of the buses were heading towards eastern towns like Janakpur, Siraha and Rajbiraj. The looters exploded two powerful bombs on the road and fled to the jungle. The passengers reported the incident to the Pathlaiya-based army camp. But the armymen did not take any action. (snn) |

I don't know about the parties. Here is the reaction of the army to the related incident as posted in the last paragraph of the news: >The passengers reported the incident >to the Pathlaiya-based army camp. > But the armymen did not take any >action. |

Farak chhutyaaunuhosh: 1) Gyanendra Shah's interview in Timeasia and Baburam Bhattarai's interview in the Washington Post sometime ago. 2) Gyanendra Shah being declared the Samrat of Hinduism and Prachanda being the Samrat of Maoism in Nepal. 3) Gyanendra Shah importing all those luxerious cars and Gobinda Raj Joshi being corrupt. Damn, I do not see anything different in the two scenarios. And I just had my eye checkup! |
