Does anyone know if you can do paid internships while in college legally. Does that effect the opt training permit we get after we graduate....

Please I need to know....

Yes, as long as you take it for a credit from your college, in which case, you might have to enroll for a class. So, which means, you might be paying to ur college/uni for the credit hour that you will be taking that internship for. But at the same time, u get experience and MONEY!

And if you take ur internship for a credit, as far as I am aware of, no, it does not effect ur opt! Talk to ur professors, registrar, international student adviser 'bout it!

Good Luck with everything!

P.s: This is what I know...There might be other options available as well. I hope others who are aware about how it works will not hesitate to share their knowledge with you! Best wishes again!

Peace,
In a same boat!

Yes, I think its called CPT (Curricular Practical Training)!

The important fact to keep in mind is that if you exceed CPT over a year, you will not be allowed to do OPT. I knew a guy who told me how to rip the college off the way they have been ripping you off for years ;)...SIMPLY DO CPT FOR 364 days and stop ;). So that you can still be able to do your OPT.
