Dear friends, After the most infamous interview by our King Gyanendra and going through all his views, I think Nepal is going to lose democracy gradually. What do you guys think about our country's future? country lover, MG

MG, if something had to happen, it would have already occured within 24 hrs as the news came out. His interview was a big blow to opportunistic leaders of fragially fragmented flaked and flammed parties. The parties are not getting any people's support. Peoples' support seemingly devided between monarch and maoists. Rest is assured by what game they are to play in future.

Spark, So true........The parties themselves are to be blamed for not getting support from the peoples. Otherwise nepalese people had given their blood to bring democracy in 2046. I hope the party leaders themselves are starting to believe this truth. Country lover, MG

Maybe I got it totally wrong, but I fail to see why some people made such a hoohaa and haahoo about the King's interview. I skimmed through it once, I failed to see anything that was remotely new or earth-shaking. Most of the stuff is something he has already said before in various forums. So I don't think the sky will fall because of the interview. As to what happens to the country (because of the whole mess and not just due to the interview), your guess is as good as mine. Couple of scenarios could play out in the next year: 1. The Maoists, UML, and NC form a republican alliance and chase out the king and becomes a republic; but the problems of poverty, misgovernance, lawlessness, and violence continue. 2. The government is able to push the Maoists back and able to hold the elections. A UML-NC alliance wins the elections and forms the next government. Another effort is made to start the peace talks with the Maoists, but the war resumes again. 3. Neither the oppositional parties and the Maoists are able to chase out monarchy, nor is the government able to hold elections to form the next government. So Surya Bahadur Thapa continues for the balance of 2004. 4. Anything could happen! SC, the occasional political pundit

Don't you worry Girl. I was there when we got democracy 1990. I will be there walking on the streets again if we have to get it back. May God save the king. For he may expect nothing but wrath from me.

Dear MG, Thanks for being worried about the Democracy of Nepal. Yes, really now nepal is going lose Democracy. Lots of martyrs lost their life to establish Democracy in Nepal. But unfortunately, now Democracy is in danger due to King and Maoist both. Maoist are trying to establish the Republican state and King is trying to establish his monopoly, (Nirangkushta). It is really painful for every Nepali people who loves Nepal and Nepalis. All the political parties are also motivated by selfishness. They don't care about the nation and people. They only care about their chair.
