My bet is India. They have been playing flawless cricket at the moment and are in great form of beating the defending champions, and the world champions. Specially attractive is the form of VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid, the man of the series in the Tests. Sachin Tendulkar has looked down and out completely out of form and has not scored a noticeable score except for his magical fightback in the Tests with a double. He will be back in Perth contest after he injured himself. But I think, for the first time, Sachin Tendulkar's injury has not mattered for India, because their new heroes, Laxman and Dravid have single handedly handled the otherwise great deficit. With two centuries in Tests and three consecutive hundreds in the one-dayers, Laxman most definitely is the man of the hour. But Australia can never be looked back. They are the world champions and remember how they thrashed the same India side in the world cup finals. They are in their home turf and mightily dangerous. To win, Adam Gilchrist has to make a quick start right from the world go. Mathew Hayden at the other end, should play more of an anchor role, allowing Gilchrist to take the centre stage. Captain Ponting has not been scoring some good runs at this series. He should remain calm at the middle of the innings and not go for a big pull or a hook when he is not confident of doing. Picking up singles and two's, should be a good option for him, ocassional boundary should definitely come. Steve Waugh is missed in the middle, but Michael Clarke has been playing some attractive cricket, so should be able to fill Waugh's position with genuine and attacking batting. Michael Bevan will be missed but the tail enders should atleast be able to hit six an over at the end of the innings. An score somewhere around the 300 mark should be a good total to defend. If not, well, the Indians are in total form at the moment and will easily chase down score around 250. Good Luck to both sides. |

Hey Krish bro, Thanx for your frequent update on the cricket world. Honestly, I am quite surprised at the resurrection of the Indian team and looking forward to the indi-pak series soon :). That is quite a scare for me personally ;) Back to VB series, though I was beginning to get tired of aussie invincibility, I can't really root for the Indians ;). So, I am hoping for some Gilchrist firepower. How about some tennis? I happened to watch Wimbledon last summer and saw the picture perfect game of Federer. I am surprised he aint winning more tournys. But Safin has the hot hand recently. That's the sole reason I decided to get Cable this weekend. No, not for superbowl :P wish they broadcasted some cricket games too :S |

Oys, you are absolutely right. Many have predicted Roger Federer to be the next Sampras and he most deifinitely has the game to prove that, and you described it as it is, "picture perfect". His serve matches the best in the world, fast and accurate. His groudstrokes are in good shape to match that of Agassi, Roddick and Ferrero. His baseline play is magnificent. He comes to net frequently like Sampras to produce a great volley to win the point. He has an incredible racket speed. Overall, if you look at his game, he is the "greatest talent" to quote from the words of tennis great John McEnroe. Actually he has been winning tournament. Last year he won the Wimbledon with nearly flawless tennis. They he overcame the tennis greats once again to clinch the Masters title. In the US OPEN, only the form of David Nalbaldian denied him when he was well on his way to victory in that epic Semi Final clash. He was tipped as the favorite alongside Andre and Roddick for the Australian Open. He produced a great display of tennis to beat the baseline play of the inform Juan Carlos Ferrerro, and he is now in the final to meet Safin. I think he is a favorite to win the Australian Open title. |

Finals will be tight competitive as the pitch is slightly favorable for batsman, and that is where Indians have an edge. look at the tail wag in yesterdays game, the tail of Indian team played better then the head and neck. If only Zaheer and Nehara are back, bowling will improve too. No doubt the final trophy is tilted to the Aussies 60:40, but it is the performance on the day that counts for the missing 20 for Indians to gain and Aussies to loose. KK |
