Minister asked bribe last time...’

Jan 30 - Elysee Frontiere CEO Sylvain Jean Leveque went on record today saying that he left the country after signing the PPA because he could not bribe a senior minister in the Sher Bahadur Deuba government.
“We applied for the power generation licence, but the minister refused ,” Leveque told The Kathmandu Post. “He asked for US $5 million. I said we are a humanitarian trust, and would not bribe anybody.”

“But he did not listen and said ‘I will not issue a license until you pay me’..That was what forced us to disappear,” he said.

Hey bloodz, I agree with you and I dont' agree with you.

Yes, its pretty surprising that its been the habit of the political parties to bandhs, bandhs and more bandhs. Now, even the student bodies are following the trend. Seriously, since my school days, I been wondering how does doing bandh for a day help anybody's case. Its like...we've nothing to do this week, les have another bandh. I read last week somewhere that they are preparing for more strikes even after their demands have been met.

But as far the King is concerned, I have begun to get skeptic. Though I never am a supporter of republic and thought that King was the sole option for the unity of Nepal and its people, it has taken a very feral path recently. I wonder now, if we're brainwashed in our school sometimes, reading all those books on the glorious history of our King, Raja sab ka sajha, and the constant chanting about the royal family on how glorious they are and are incarnations of the gods. We were never given the option of studying our history on a practical perspective.Maybe that's why, even when I strongly disapprove what the King is doing, still have the soft corner for the notion of KING.

As someone else mentioned, King is not a problem for Nepal, and if we take a poll on all the Nepalis (not nepalis living in US), I am sure they'll still vow for the king. But its the absolute Monarchy that is troubling the mass and the dictatorial type of rule that's gonna get more Nepali enraged with time. Talking bout Enrage, it takes very little for Nepalis to get enraged..like I said, if we were taught a lesson or two on tolerance, peace and harmony rather than chanting about the royals and BIR Gorkhali, our society today would be a little more resilient and kandas like Hrithik Roshan and Himalayan Times could be avoided.

We cannot have a revolution overnight to change Nepal from the poorest country in the world to a world superpower..and I think that's what people like Baburam want to do. There are flaws in every system. All we need is fine tune, give it some time, have patience, perseverence, and ultimately we'll prevail...HOPE HOPE!
