Nepalese man marries dog

Kathmandu: A 75-year-old man in Nepal married a dog in a local custom to ensure good luck only to die three days later, a newspaper reported today.
With his son and other relatives by his side, Phulram Chaudhary tied the knot with a dog on Saturday in Durgauli village in the southwestern Kailali district.

He was following a custom of his Tharu community which holds that an old man who regrows teeth must take a dog as a bride.

"He believed that this would help him avoid great misfortune later in life. However, he died a few days later," the state-run daily Gorkhapatra said.

woh, that's something I have never heard before in my life.

That's a strange rituals they have. Do they consider "dogs" as one of their gods or something that is the lowest creature? I don't understand the reason. Does anybody know more about it?

peace in Nepal

BTW the news does not specify if it was a he-dog or a she-dog.

I wonder what the old man would do to the dog after marrying it....

I have heard similar story in India, and BBC made it a big news.. A 9/10 year old girl was married to a dog. Villegers were happy because they get to eat "Bhoj", but I guess it was related to some Kundali issues........

What a bitch!

The bitter reality is we have a decaying society with silly and sub human rituals and practices. The more we know them, the more we hate them.
