Well, corrupt people shold be blamed first. That includes everyone who involves in corruption. What about the society itself, and the people of the society. If somebody gets richer and richer, nobody cares how he/she earns that wealth. All will say ," wow, tyesle ta kya kamayo yaar, tyeso kamai po kamai." I mean people dont care how money comes and goes. They think and take every paisa as a "KAMAI." So, everybody, including you and me, should be blamed for the corrupt Nepali society. chill out;)

I dont mean how we have earned money.I just insit on the way we think. People dont care how a person earns, they just care about the status he/she has and the life he/she is enjoying. If a corrupt person earns a lot of money through immoral and illegal means, people dont take it as immoral an unethical. Instead, they appreciate it," he used to own a 'chhapro' last year, now he has a building.Wow, kya kamayo tyesle ta." We also fall amongst those peole who approve the unethical practices. So, one needs to differentiate between hard-earn-money and corrupt-earn-money, and should evaluate accordingly. Nowadays, people are geting somehow more sensible than the past days.Lets hope change comes after few years. chill out;)

Yah, I also believe that some rich and powerful nation plays role to make other nation do what they like, and because our corrupt leaders are taking shelter in their safety umbrella they should be blame too, but as it is fact that no body will rob you home unless some one from your own aid them, so is the fact with Nepal, no doubt we are also helping to promote corruption. Everybody like to become rich and quickly, and when you get chance to do, it is great. Why our leader enjoy power, when Saddam was kicked out his ass by powerful nation on same cause? The people who have more power and role in nation building will be blame more for what is happening in Nepal. No doubt, KING will come first, and then normal people will come at last. When your whole chain is corrupt, from KING to lower government officials, where you will start fight and how? So only time to sit and watch or you also involved in corruption!!! Because DIMONT cuts DIMONT. I still remember, my discussion with one Nepali Army officer, when he was on training tour in foreign land (with whole family on Government expense) 1 years before. He said "Corruption is the sign of development" What do you think? If our protector of country thinks like this what you expect from them?

I blame those sons and daughters and relatives of those corrupt people who talk so much about anti corruption but happily and knowingly enjoy life by using the money, whether schooling or whatever, earned through corrupt means by their fathers and families. The question is ----Is there anyone who is not an anti corruption in Nepal? At the same time, how many of the people who write here and talk about anti corruption have enjoyed the money earned through corrupt means?

Sushil-ji, To answer your question, corruption started after 2046. Before that, during the Rana and the Panchayat regimes, there was no corruption at all. The political parties invented corruption and spread it through out the world, including our neighbor to the south, India. Corruption will soon be in Mars too! Oh political parties, how ruined art thou? Whom should we blame? ME. Because if you blame me, life will be easy for everyone, especially those who have been involved in massive corruption. For example, you can send CIAA to me, make me an escapegoat (of course, if I have gathered enough money, I will bail myself out) and the world wont see all the bigger corruptions other people have done. -------------- Luckydude, Another--and very clean--name begins with G. You might want to be judicious with the use of that letter. :)

Ditto Gerox, The source of corruption is not far from our heart, and we all know the truth. It is irony in Nepal's case where this self desire outweights the collective interest of society, nation and humanity as a whole. KK

In Nepal, the logic is paisa thulo ho, jata bata pani aaaus; je kaam garera pani aaaus. all the people want is money so corruption is there; which is followed by every one, police, any officer, clerk or even a village money lender to the king. The point is to educate the masses. And give moral education to the people.

HERE'S your answers--- 1. lack of education 2. lack of resources ( minerals, oil etc) 3. Landlocked between India and the poorest part of china 4. Culture of corruption 5. Political instability throughout history 6. Lack of unity (mostly due to caste system) 7. Brain Drain ( in the last 15 years) 8. No hope-- most people in Nepal don't have naything to look forward to so they can be easily influenced and explited (a hungry man is an angry man) SO do not blame one person or one party for our misery, It IS NOT SO SIMPLE. If is was it would perhaps simple to solve to. Perhaps....
