Dear Friends, There is a big protest going on in University of Idaho, against a local Pastor, Doug Wilson and his book, 'Southern Slavery: As it was'. He basically talks about how slavery was NOT bad in southern states back in those days and Supports slavery in the basis of bible. For more information see: http://www.class.uidaho.edu/ngier/slavery.htm (don’t forget to click the link on the bottom of the page). Various groups in the town and the University are protesting in a peaceful and yet definite way. Doug recently had a Conference here at the University on Wednesday night, defending his point in front of a large group of audience. Any doubts left in my mind in fully believing that this guy is nothing but an ignorant-arrogant- theological racist, quickly swept away when I read these following quotes from our local University Paper: "Some religions attempt it (racism)," Wilson said. He said certain religions, such as Hinduism, rely on racism as a fundamental basis for their religion, citing the practice of a caste system in their religion as being racist. Wilson and Wilkins (a supporter of Wilson) co-authorized the 40-pages "Slavery: AS it was, “which stated that the relationship between slaves and masters in the pre Civil War South was not as bad as most people think. (To view the whole article goes to: http://www.argonaut.uidaho.edu/current/news4.html) Dough’s insensitiveness towards Hinduism and Hindus deeply disturbed me as being a Hindu. I believe that cast system was not bad in itself, but was made bad practically by the fanatic-arrogant- greedy Hindu priests just like Dough Wilson for Christianity with their twisted interpreting of the religion. I think it is necessary to make Doug realize that he should not have commented about Hinduism without the good knowledge of Hinduism. I would like to ask you guys to input your thoughts on this matter. I am thinking of protesting his comments by sending letters to the various groups on campus. Please write your thoughts. Please help, Thanks |

Ranga ji, The caste system IS bad. It's almost as obvious as saying--smoking is bad. How else do u explain the vast discrepency in living standards in Nepal that can be associated with caste. What makes bahuns "upper class"? Coz they were born in a certain family? It's the 21st century man. Caste sysyem IS racism!! |

Ranga Ji, You are right to be angry as unlike Christianity Hinduism is not racist. When Sri Ram fought against Ravana he was helped by the adibasi king Hanuman and his tribe. He also ate the ber of Shabbri who was from a different caste. Caste is not racism. In Nepal even UnArya have castes; The Mongolians are divided into Gurkha, Magar, etc. Arya too are divided into Brahmin, Shatri, Vaish. And within the Brahmin & Shatri castes those from different jati do not intermarry (ie a Kanyakubj Brahmin will not marry a Nagara Brahmin nor will a Khatri marry a Thakuri) though both care from the same race and even the same caste (varna). Christianity enshrines racism in its teachings. ST Gregory declared "The Jews are murderers of the Lord. Rebels and detesters of the mind, a race of vipers... enemies of all that is beautiful". Such sentiments led to the ruthless massacres of Jews (1348 Provence, Basel, Germany, Spain). Such hate was a precursor to the Holocaust in which over 6 million Jews perished; such inhumanity was supported by the German Christians and glorified by such contemporary Christians as the Church of Jesus Christ Christian in Idaho. And this is just a small sample of Chritianity's faults. Others include: 1. Intolerance (suppression of non Christian religions) 2. Cruelty (Papal Inquistioned tortured/executed millions for challenging Christian dogma) 3. Immorality (Homosexuality and sexual perversion is rampant in Chritianity) 4. Gain of converts through holy war (crusade) and colonialism Unfortunately this is not the first time that adharmi have attacked the Sanatan Dharm. In Bangladesh Muslims taunt Hindus on a daily basis with insults such as Hanut and Kafir. Hindu religion is insulted and Hindu heroes are denigrated. Hindus cannot practice religion in a land which only 50 years ago was ruled by Hindu Maithil/Nepali Maharajas. This hatred emanates from the Koran which teaches that a Muslim who kills a non Muslim earns a place in paradise. Please research: http://www.yahoodi.com/peace/india.html http://www.HinduUnity.Org http://www.hinduhumanrights.org http://www.fisiusa.org/fisi_News_items/Bangla_news/bangla003.htm http://www.mukto.mona.com/human_rights/ethnic_clensing_Bangladesh.htm http://www.mayerdak.com/dec2001a3.htm The protest is an excellent idea but be careful not to antagonize the Christians as they are the most powerful group in the USA. Maybe you could organise a meeting to protest the genocide of Hindus in Bangladesh. In London 2003 the protest against Islamic terror attracted Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Hindus and Jews from Israel, Nepal, India, Nepal and even Fiji, Guyana, and Malaysia. Another method is direct action. Contact movements such as: INDIA: Bharatiya Janata Party, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Shiv Sena NEPAL: Matrubhoomi Swayamsevak Sangh, Shiv Sena Nepal, Hindu Mahasan UK: Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA: Vishwa Hindu Parishad If Hindus are violated in Muslim/Christian majority nations then encouage retaliatory attacks on Muslims/Christians in India or Nepal where Hindus are a majority. Let the Muslims and Christians feel the hatred which they direct towards us. Even in democratic countries like UK Muslims insult Hindus. Bangladeshi Muslims routinely attack Indians and Nepalis in areas of London where they are populous. If we organise in strength it would be a slap on the evil face of Islam. |
