You can listen to this 1/2 hour ko weekly radio program on businss online, and, after you listen to it, do send in your comments. http://www.afn.org.np/programs.htm#2 What follows was first posted in December. ******* Manisha Aryal is a University of California, Berkeley-educated journalist. While in the US, she used to work for, among others, National Public Radio's "marketspace" program. In Kathmandu, she runs a radio-program prodiction house called Antenna i Kupondole. She and her team (comprising of Madhu Acharya, Kiran Nepal and others) are putting on half-hour ko weekly radio programs on business, starting tomorrow (Thursday, December 18, 2003). The program is called "Business Yatra" The language used will be: Conversational Nepali that all of us can understand and relate to. Time length: Half an hour Time: Thursdays, 8 am - 8:30 am Station: Radio Sagarmatha 102.4 FM Soon.na Na. bhool.noo hola!! Since Business Yatra is a first-of-its-kind business radio program targeted to private sector businesses in Nepal, Antenna is looking for underwriters/sponsors/commercial advertisers. The idea is to make this radio program commercially viable and valuable as soon as possible. For the time being, for the purpose of 'demonstration', Antenna -- with some technical assistance from Business Service Aadhar -- is primarily investing its own resources to get the weekly program up and running. Please do listen to the program tomorrow morning, and on Thursday mornings. What follows is from Manisha and her colleagues.. oohi ashu ktm, nepal ******** From Antenna Existing business programs on radio and television do not focus on this business community. The programs tend to be full of jargons and rarely explain why business houses and consumers should care about a particular piece of legislation, the government's budget allocation, economic activities happening in one corner of the country or a news item in the local press. Antenna plans for Business Yaatra to fill that void -- to be an intelligent, interactive business program that is informative, educational, analytical, entertaining and relevant. Business Yaatra will discuss producers' and consumers' concerns, engage policy makers, executives and middle managers in dialogue and address numerous other economic issues relevant to program's audience. Antenna has selected Radio Sagarmatha (FM 102.4) as the carrier for the program and has blocked prime time broadcasting slot (Thursday morning, 8:00 am) for the program. Antenna estimates that in 10 to 12 weeks, the program will become a must listen amongst small and medium entrepreneurs and businesses that deal with them. Business Yaatra is seeking underwriters - call 5-523-738 or e-mail for more information. (Underwriting, often called corporate sponsorship, provides business interests access to radio listeners in a clutter-free environment. On-air recognition - or credits - offers underwriters recognition and a powerful tool to reach listeners. Since all our programs are meticulously produced, association with AFN will also provide our underwriters with social capital, a mostly-overlooked yet extremely important element of a successfully run business)
