If you want to volunteer or love volunteering, you better immigrate to Canada right away. But I still can't guarantee you for that too. Lucky, if you can find one. Do you know, in spite of great difficulty finding even a survival job ( specially immigrants who are mostly living hand to mouth ) the government of Canada is earning name as a best country for immigrants while they are doing business - earning billions of dollars a year as application fee. Every year 300,000 new immigrants come to Canada ...So beware! But as I told you in the beginning - Great place to volunteer...CANADA

buddu jee, You may be right - look at myself, after pursuing for three months, I finally got a job as a janitor working at nights in a mall because that's what immigrants are here for. Is that the reason you call yourself as buddu ? Don't mind...just curious.

Good Bad and Ugly
Good :
If you get your dream job. For children it's a great place. Clean and beautiful. Best health service. If you want to test how much your degree counts? If you are prepared to work as security guards, janitors, waiter and waitresses, warehouse person, work in 7 eleven at nights..graveyard jobs. If you have your own big business and want to try to expand. If you can live on less and be happy. If you love nature and its beauty. If you think life is to experience. For people who like change. Great place for those who had difficult life before in Nepal - if you were a bhariya or a richshaw puller or chyame or gaadaban or guard etc..
Bad :
If you have self-pride. If you love freedom. If you think, life has no meaing to become slaves to work at nights or work whenever called, If you think, you have so many years of experiences outside Canada - they are of no value here, They always look for canadian experience, even you just arrived. If you are not prepared to do anything, you'll certainly ruin your life. Finding a survival job is almost like winning a lottery for those of visible minority like ours.
Ugly :
Many people have wrong notion about this country because they mostly hear of US and think that way. So many have ruined their lives after spending all their life-time earnings which they brought by selling their property back home. They say, if they could rewind time, they would go back with their original sum they brought here because now even that money will be a dream here. Finally, they go on welfare or do some menial jobs graveyard shift...It is ugly to see PhD's as taxi drivers. Even Ph.D's from US are working nights at least paying jobs. Don't think that you'll be paid more for night shifts. If you leave that job, there are thousands standby.More than 5000 foreign educated doctors, surgeons are not allowed to work as doctors though there is extreme shortage. Most go to US after getting a Canadian citizenship saying there is no future here. How can there be future when the Govt.of Canada has no attitude at all?
So... to summarize, you have to decide what type of guy you are, before taking the right decision.

Yes...brothers. I have heard many many stories like yours in the past. Most Canadians are dumb because they don't speak out against this. I see as is a promotion of slavery system because people are not aware of this. They apply as if they would be working as doctors, engineers, etc...as they applied for, when they arrive they are shocked not to find even a survival job easily. If you read history books, you'll find Abraham Lincoln abolishing slavery in America. But who in CANADA ? It's still going on, nobody is aware of that. My God....what those yearly 300,000 new immigrants are supposed to do when even ten years ago, there was acute shortage of survival jobs? In Holland, just last week, there was a news whick I saw in TV that they have stopped bringing yearly 7000 new immigrants - YES! seven thousand new immigrants because there is already problem of jobs. While, in CANADA, 300,000 - three hundred thousand a year. In US, only 50,000 a year while there is a population ten times bigger than CANADA. Immigrants are brought because it's surely their business - to improve the economy of CANADA. So, for those who apply as skilled labour, I advise you guys to research very carefully before you become actually a labourer here.

Oh! I forgot to mention one very interresting thing....that is, the hardest jobs means immigrants do and the minimum wage they get. While the same job, Whites get paid more than double. In Japan, it's exactly opposite. That's how CANADA is indeed a very developed nation.

Most of the developed counties like Canada first suck the poor countries and then act as compassionate. That's the way, this world is going on - rich exploit poor first in whatever way they can and then throw some money to show their helping hands. The most shocking news I feel is about doctors who are staying idle there while in Nepal, India and poor counties where they are from are in need of them. These so called developed countries ( only monetarily rich only ) should put their heads together and try to recruit those doctors to developed countries like ours. But who cares? Ater all, they are the same damn selfish politicians - like the ones in our country.
