Okay so Valentine's day SUCK BIG TIME! and there's no doubt about it. All of a sudden just once a year your loved ones become really special?Please,give me a break!!!!V-day is nothing but a bunch of trite trash. If you look around all you will see is people running around "frothing, proclaiming their love and pledging their eternal allegiance to one another" What a sick way to make your loved one feel special.Personally I believe that if someone truly cares about you,you'd hear it more often than just once a year?Am i not right?A person doesn't need to wait for one whole freaking year to tell your "soul mate" how special and important that person is in your life.Or maybe I am just wrong?
Or maybe one thinks that for all the wrongs/faults/and the sins that person has done within a year can be forgotten on V-day with a heart shaped box filled with cheap,sometimes expensive,chocolates,dozen roses,romantic dinner,movie and a card picked up from hallmark?I am sorry but I didn't know love could be bought?Maybe love has become really cheap?But hey!it is a way of saying sorry for all the wrong doings,and which couldn't have been done before but had to wait for V-day to come?Ahem!Excuse me once more.Yes yes everyone does like to get gifts and so do I but isn't he/she forcibly handing you a gift?"Oh cause I have to or else my girl will be mad at me"The poor guy doesn't have any option but to do all those things to make a girl happy and vice versa.
For all the happy couples who are planning on an expensive or cheap romantic plan for today please do not get me wrong. I am not a single young women and i am not angry at my guy for not doing all the crap the society has put infront of us.And i am NOT trying to give grief to everyone else who is dating. I'm a stark realist. I want my man to tell me if I'm loved of his own volition, not because some fabricated greeting card holiday sponsored by Hallmark compels him.Or just because everyone around is doing it so he gotta do it too.
I am seriously not kidding when I say this but this past week everywhere i look around all I see is garbage.I was just traipsing around the street last nite and HOLY MOLY what sad and pathetic attempts to attract more business.Well,good for business people.All red,pink and whites in their window,and of course they were all heart shaped with Cupid(the fat,miniature angel of love) dangling around in his loincloth with Arrow of love ready to pierce someone's heart.Oh pleaseeeee SPARE ME!!!!I would rather see someone piercing Cupid's head with a rifle and cut out his heart and have it for dinner,making it hot and spicy!!!!Yummy!!
One of my girlfriend called me today and she was crying about how sad she is today as no one has given her a rose or a card.I listened to her for a long time.I was there for her,gave her some "comfort" words.But my dear friend please SHUT THE F*CK UP!!It's just like any other day,what is the big deal?Why do you need to feel special?I know you are and you should know it too.Oh looking for people's affection,approval.Why does anyone,even your guy/girl,needs to tell you that you are special?Don't you know it yourself?Only after someone tells you,you believe in yourself?Well,obviously I didn't tell her all that as she was already upset.But my oh my!
I remember as a kid,me and my girl friends flock together like a bunch of starving Ethiopians around a bowl of rice to see who had gotten a flower from whom, what color it was, what they wrote in the message, and to count how many they had in their possession.Oh my god!What in the world was I thinking?Just being a part of this so called society,I suppose?Trying to fit in.
Now, on Valentine's Day 30 years ago, my mother and father gave each other their vows and love that will last lifetime and that is what I want.
Valentine's day-What a sick public display of affection!! it is nothing more than a little something to say you've upheld your end of the bargain and have fulfilled your duties.Society and their crap that we follow as we have to to fit in!!
